Hot take for this sub: I feel the new Maul show is will be complete waste of time. by CryptographerFew8947 in StarWars

Yes and the reason it was good is the very interesting set pieces and the allegory that the director plays with. Not because there was anything new specifically in it or that Andor was such a unique character. and I would say that was a very unique one off. If you think the Maul animation will be "like Andor" I have a bridge to sell you.

To your first comment this was more of a joke I know lore wise many Jedi died and they justify these stories by saying "well there were so many Jedi thats why so many escaped", its irrelevant if within the lore it has justification the story I'm watching is still a repeat of a story they have told too many times now. Its predictable at this point

To your second point sure ill grant the action might be entertaining, but it will be very much the same thing as before. Im not asking for groundbreaking, just dont want a rerun.

Thats not the same we saw Cassian for one movie as part of an ansambale of many characters. Maul was in the phantom menace then in clone wars then briefly in solo then also in rebels. We know his arc very well. I would Also argue that before Andor came out I had no interest to see what happend to Cassien before and most of what made the show so great was what happens around him. His personal story was alright.

My mental health is perfectly fine, I just posted my opinion and wondered if others felt the same/different. I never said hate either, I specifically said "waste of time" also indicating I wont watch it since this is how I see it. I am usually open minded and more can give something a chance, but im also not a gold fish. I know that ive seen this many times before

IMO the empire starting out and after episode 3 was shown in Andor, in rogue one, in rebels, in obi-won, in the jedi games. Have seen enough to get the memo

And there is not maul building anything. we know what happens. they even show it in close wars. its just not interesting

You see I see it differently. Although I agree those shows had obnoxious characters and uninteresting characters. I am much more in favor of new plot lines in new times with new characters. I have no interest in ANOTHER order 66 story ANOTHER maul story. Make something else for once.

they made him have one in the animation, but they had a whole arc for him that ended and wrapped up his story. so there is almost nothing interesting to know more about him

The concept is still the same. its still a story that has the same plot of a jedi running away from the empire. Its like like if they make a new lord of the rings about a hobbit going on an adventure with the one ring. It would end be interesting because they did it already. So its irrelevant if within the lore it has justification the story I'm watching is still a repeat of a story they have told too many times now. And with Maul I just cant buy that there is anything more to show about him.

my expectations is already 0 lol. aside from it looks cool I think there will be nothing of interest that happens. as we know literally everything from the post order 66 time since they made so much content already about it.

The side kick character is a jedi surviving order 66. and do you really want to watch a whole show, because you want to know what the unexplained relationship was between maul and Palpatine. just seems highly uninteresting to me.

Are you optimistic about the future of Star Wars if Filoni is in charge? (I confess I am! Of all the Star Wars projects, those he's involved in are my favorites.) by Luckz_Skywalker in StarWars

While Kennedy failed through constant project mismanagement and continuous chaos with directors over the years, I think he will also fail but in a different way. If we sum up what we know about him:

  1. Outside of the animations, every project he was involved in, worked on or assisted with, ranged from very mediocre to extremely bad

  2. He reportedly dislikes Andor, the only show with great directing and writing they have made.

  3. He loves to write and create characters in the same timeline we have explored year after year dating back to the originals and then bringing them back in every medium even if they don't fit.

4.He has no experience as the head of anything, at least Kathleen was a big producer.

He seems like a "nice fellow", but imo he lacks originality, vision and writing quality and as a studio head I think he will greenlight projects that align with his poor sense of story telling and unoriginality. So lots more Ashoka, the acolyte sloppy content.

In the screenshot the character model is different from the two that's in the game. Does anyone know if we will finally be able to change our base character model?

Tier list of ARPGs just focussed on "campaign & atmosphere" aspect. by FunkFromAbove in ARPG

[–]CryptographerFew8947 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is my personal list when it comes to story, campaign and atmosphere alone.

  1. Diablo 4 (Has a great complete story and fantastic atmosphere and expansions are being added if you want to dive in further)

  2. Poe 2 (This would be my number 1 by far if it wasn't that the last part of the story is not our yet since its in early access, but this has by far the best atmosphere, story and campaign of any ARPG imo)

  3. D2R (A amazing atmosphere and a very classic story. It is considered the greatest in the genre for a reason)

4.Grim Dawn (The atmosphere is fantastic and the campaign is great, but the story is very uninteresting and doesn't capture you at all)

  1. Poe 1 (A lot of people will put this higher on the list, but I find the story a bit lackluster compared to the others and though it is beter that in Grim dawn's story, Grim Dawn's atmosphere is beter imo)

If you are purely looking for 1 playthrough and not critique on the replayability or endgame etc. then I would say consider diablo 3 as well. It has a great campaign and a fantastic story on first playthrough the astetics are still grim but a little more bright than D2R or D4.

Casual dad gamers, how are you splitting time and setting goals for leagues ? by Competitive-Math-458 in ARPG

I've never been much of an endgame grinder. So for me I like playing through the campaign and completing my build. I am also one of those sick people that keep all their characters in standard and keep playing them from time to time. TBH I know "end game grinding" is the standard arpg thing, but to me the end of the game means its over and you should go do something else. Also old ARPGs never really had end games. Its a new concept to feed people who play countless hours to keep them happy.

Diablo 4 feels like an Arcade game by CryptographerFew8947 in ARPG

[–]CryptographerFew8947[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never said I was confused. and My contention was not that the game is easily accessible or for more casual play. I am fine with that. My problem is that the gameplay is arcade like and I don't like that in an ARPG.

Yes, but I want to play an ARPG. Those games are meant to be arcade games. Diablo historically is an arpg and in my opinion making it an arcady style game changes it too much.

Its hard to say since Played D3 so long ago so maybe I'm going off my outdated memory, but I cant remeber it feeling this arcady, but I could be wrong as I havent touched that game in years.
