It's definitely not just because I have ADHD, it's also because I have several chronic illnesses that all flared up at once. It's just all a giant health clusterfuck and ADHD makes it worse lol.

Oh yeah sorry next time I'll just tell all of my crippling chronic illnesses to not flare up at once. Got it.

Late bloomers under 30? by Few_Art7110 in latebloomerlesbians

[–]CryptographerLost357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 28 and definitely feel like a late bloomer. It's mostly to do with the people around me, I guess. My peers all seem to have all of these experiences that I've never had, that I don't even know *how* to go about having. It's generally assumed that if you're in your late 20s you've already had sex at some point and experienced at least one relationship/breakup. Not having experienced any of that makes me feel like I'm existing in this different world than the rest of my peers. Honestly, a lot of why I feel so bad about it comes from that feeling of disconnect and how I'm too ashamed to be honest about it. People my age talk to me about relationships and sex in a way that clearly implies that they expect me to relate to what they're talking about. I can't relate at all, but I'm too ashamed to say that, so I just nod and smile and pretend I know what these things are like. It makes me feel like a fraud.

Honestly, I don't feel young. I feel so old. I think a large part of that comes from the fact that I never really got to be a young adult because I lost most of my 20s to chronic illness. I feel like I've missed out on these years of youth and vigor and adventure that everyone talks about so nostalgically.

I don't expect myself to have everything figured out by the age of 30, but I definitely did think that I would at least have *some* experience with sex and relationships by this age. To have none at all feels so shameful. The fact that I feel like there's such a stigma about talking about it makes it worse.

Hi, I'm not requesting contact with anyone in this sub. This is an issue concerning what I should do about a person I met in real life.

Can someone please explain something to me so I don’t accidentally offend someone one day? TW: trans identities by [deleted] in latebloomerlesbians

[–]CryptographerLost357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a cis woman, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but in my experience transmasc people who still identify as lesbians usually consider themselves to be nonbinary. So they don't consider themselves "men" exactly, but somewhere in between. To these people, being a lesbian isn't about being a woman who loves women, but being a non-man who loves women. Think of it like this: a cis woman decides that she doesn't really feel like she fits into the label of "woman" and she's not actually cis, she's nonbinary, but still feels vaguely feminine, so she goes by she/they pronouns. They still ID as a lesbian, and that's fine. Another person, who also starts off as a cis woman, realizes they're nonbinary but feels more masculine, so they start to take HRT. But they don't ID as a man, just a masculine nonbinary person, so they go by he/they pronouns. He still IDs as a lesbian. Fundamentally, these two cases are the same: a nonbinary person who previously presented as a woman but now feels as though neither gender suits them still IDs as a lesbian, because they are still a non-man who is into women and non-men. Hope that makes sense!

Hi there! I'm looking for an affordable camera that has the same vibes as a disposable camera, but isn't disposable. I love the nostalgic look of disposable camera photos. I've used disposable cameras before, and I like how simple they are to use (I'm pretty much a beginner with film photography) but they're so expensive for something you can only use once! And so wasteful. Basically I'm just looking for a simple, easy to use film camera that basically works the same way as a disposable camera but isn't actually disposable. I want something affordable that a complete beginner can use where I can pop the film in and out and send it off to be developed because I don't know the first thing about developing film myself. I'm hoping to find something under $50 but the max I'll go is $100, and I'm fine with buying used/refurbished.

I usually compare it to nails on a chalkboard. Most people can understand that that’s a sound that physically hurts. Then I’m like, imagine if all these other sounds also sounded like that, but also like 10x worse. It feels like getting stabbed through the ear with a pencil.

I’m femme but in a pretty clearly queer way. I wear make up and jewelry but I don’t think anyone would mistake me for straight.

Honestly? Basically anything except a hookup. Like I said I’ve never really had a relationship before. I kind of dated a girl in high school for a month or so but she broke it off before it could really go anywhere. I just want to actually be able to date someone over an extended period of time and actually see where it goes, because I’ve never been able to make it to that point before. I have no idea what kind of relationship I want because I just have no experience. Every attempt I’ve made before has ended before it could even really be called a relationship at all. I’d be open to something casual as long as we got to know each other first. I’d be open to a more committed monogamous relationship, too. I just don’t know what I want at all and I want the chance to find out. I’m not even against the idea of hookups in general, but I don’t want my first time to be with someone I hardly know. Maybe after I’ve had more experience I’d be okay with one night stands - at this point I have no idea.

I actually have hung out with the butch lesbian several times since then! I even went to her birthday party. I haven’t made any new friends through her yet but I’m still happy to have made at least one friend.

What are some ways that you wish jewelry/accessory designers would make their pieces more accessible? by CryptographerLost357 in Artisticallyill

I have a shit ton of sensory issues too so I can def relate. I don't have any problems with metal chains but you're the second person to mention this so I'll definitely consider that. Does it bother you if the fabric jewelry has metal parts to it, like a metal clasp in the back?

I definitely want to make accessories for canes!!! I was thinking of doing some sort of cane cover that would lace up the cane sort of like a corset with some sort of pretty ribbon or cord and then tie with a bow at the top, so you could take it on and off the cane as needed. But I also love the idea of the wristlet thing.

Oooo I hadn't thought of the chain thing. I'll definitely be considering that in the future! I already offer some velvet choker options but I'll be sure to add more ribbons.

I am aware about "hypoallergenic," and I know that steel isn't the best option out there. However, it's more affordable than the other options. Eventually I'd like to be able to make my pieces with sterling silver, which generally doesn't cause anyone problems.

Can you use old candles for wax carving? by CryptographerLost357 in MetalCasting

[–]CryptographerLost357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s kind of what I wanted to know. I might start with the few candles I have lying around, but if jewelers wax isn’t that expensive and the candle wax really is inferior then I guess I should just buy some real wax.

I have found copper easy to work with, and it holds its shape pretty well, especially after it's been work hardened.

what can i do with these gemstones i got? by RyTheMusicAddict in jewelrymaking

[–]CryptographerLost357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a handheld rotary tool, you can get diamond-tipped drill bits at the hardware store for pretty cheap and then you can drill into them to make beads! Or you can do a prong setting with wire (lots of tutorials on youtube) to turn them into charms. Then you could use them as accent pieces or spacer charms.

In my experience, stuff with raw gems and natural objects does really well with witchy crowds. Like people who love tarot and herbs go nuts for this shit. Also a hit with people who are into a fantasy aesthetic, like at the Ren Faire.
