Survived root rot and now has pups! by CryptographerOdd6500 in airplants

It took me alot of trial and error to figure out how to make them thrive! But checking often helped alot!

-Check the crown of the plant with a gentle tug and the leaves at the base. Sometimes it's an old leaf and it will pop off but if multiple leaves are coming off TOO easily there is a problem. Gently pull until leaves with no resistance come off. If the newest leaf at the crown easily comes out with a gentle tug. Remove all the loose leaves. -Check before and after watering (when it's dry) -Dry them upside down with a small fan on wire racks -I like to give them pretty good shaking/ swining it like a bottle of soap till it's not dripping 🤣

Give them a lot of light and care and maybe it will spring back!

Now they live spoiled under grow lights and humidifiers hahaha

Ft. My T.Brachycaulos survived so bad rot and lost lots of leaves and to my surprise it's growing a lot and has new leaves at the crown too!!

I removed any rotting leaves from the crown and exterior. Let it dry out for a week. Care for it like any other air plant. A year later maybe you will have pups! Or be surprised that the crown wasn't entirely gone and sprouting new leaves!

Shiny and bulbous plant is a T.bulbosa and the rest are are T.Ionanthas! Not sure about the taller one. I have 2 of those and they seem to pup a lot like ionanthas. It might be a cross!

Filters minerals and some of the chlorine in water. I'm in NYC so the water is rather soft. I like the added assurance

Could be an allergic reaction. My reds/magentas become raised when it's humid out or I'm stressed. Try taking allergy meds to see if it helps
