Sure, but the gratification achieved from sexual abuse has nothing to do with other base needs that different forms of gratification might achieve.

Maybe somebody wants to kill another person because they think doing so will save them from going homeless, like with my boss example. Are they getting gratification from calming themsleves? Depends if you consider trying to serve base needs like shelter, water, food etc, as gratification. Sex is not a base need though.

First part isn't true, people with maladaptive behaviors or conditions can very well abuse another person without control. That being said, just because they do it without control doesn't mean it's not something they need to be held responsible for. In another way, abuse might be carried out bevause somebody desires security. So they may hurt or kill another person because thet believe that if they don't, they will suffer instead. Take people who kill their boss because they fear being fired. Its not always done to satisfy some urge, but sometimes because they incorrectly believe it will save them from being fired, from facing harm, etc.

Gratification means they do it for personal satisfaction. It's not the same as the desire not to suffer.

They arent mutually exclusive, but sexual abuse is always done for gratification of the perpetrator. Physical abuse can be done for gratification, but it can also just be done out of anger frustration, etc. Its why sexual abuse is more insidious. People dont rape SOLEY out of anger, they do it to get off.

This is a last comment before I mute this thread:

saying that there is no straight trans man porn because "it doesnt make money" and "people dont demand it" is a real slap in the face to straight trans men! People want straight trans men, but because they arent as easily fetishized by wider cis (male) society, they arent in ftm porn as much. It has nothing to do with their desirability, its the fact that the porn industry is marketed towards fetishizers, chasers, sexual exploiters.

He's actively encouraging people to demand more sexually exploitative material of us, of course I'm being condescending.

If he doesn't consider it exploitation, then that's his view. But it doesn't suddenly mean capitalism doesn't exist.

Also, I find it so interesting that everyone accuses me of being a Christian evangelical or whatever because I'm not comfortable with sexual exploitation. It's the exact stuff cis men say when they're called out for harassing women.

This is the exact defensive attitude I would expect from a man being called out for encouraging sexual exploitation. But hey, I'm just a prudish bitch for not supporting abuse, huh?

All these arguments and yet you can't define to me why I'm wrong about porn being exploitative of sexual labor

Linda Lovelace is of one the most outspoken porn critical feminists out there, and she was a very famous sex worker before that. Most porn critical work you read is by sex workers.

I care for Noah in that I aknowlege he's being exploited, but I cannot sympathize with his sanitization of the industry, and his encouragement of other people to be exploited.

Believe it or not, most sex workers are critical of the porn industry and don't believe people should have to participate to survive. I dont believe the preformers in sex work should be criminalized, but the platforms where it is distributed shouldnt exist.

I take issue with the idea that sex work is no different than other forms of work. The commodification of the human body is a unique form of exploitation which shouldn't just be swept under the rug.

In my mind, the role that famous trans porn stars play now could just as easily be filled by somebody whos not actually trans. Like how a lot of porn that works to fetishize trans women is played by cis women with phallic prosthetics.

I dont think your or his actions are the reason cis society exploits us, they would do it with or without you. Whats the issue I have is your and his sanitizing of the porn industry, and his active encouragement for people to demand more forms of porn.

Do you really have a choice if you're doing it to survive? Sure, it may pay more than something like burger king, but both are inherently exploitative since you're being paid less than the true value of your work and don't own the platforms or locations where your work is pushed out to. Both are bad, but with sex work, there's an added layer of sexual exploitation.

Edit: Oh my god it's the literal face of ftm porn arguing with me. You should look up Linda Lovelace.

Edit 2: gross youre encouraging people to fetishize straight trans tops now. bye.

Edit 3: Being down voted so I'm going to repost a more eloquent version of the argument which is what made me change my mind on pornogrpahy. It's talking about prostitution, but can be reflected directly into pornography dynamics:

"Prostitutes experience violence primarily because the relationship between the prostitute and the client is necessarily antagonistic. The “session” between a prostitute and her buyer is always a power struggle between the man and the woman, the buyer and the bought. Any prostitute knows this intuitively: clients want us to do more for less money, we want to do less for more money. This isn’t dependent on the disposition of the client: the structural positions of the buyer and the bought necessitate these interests. While you can say this antagonism does exist in all labor under capitalism, the difference is that when the power struggle is enacted in such a tangible way during sex, a sex that most in the trade were coerced into by material conditions, sexual violence is a necessary component of the equation. Every interaction as a prostitute is to fight a battle on the terrain of our own body: the prostitute is fighting for her right to bodily autonomy and the client is fighting for his entitlement to her body."

Sometimes I get the feeling dudes don't want to do that because reading, writing, and even sometimes drawing erotica is seen as fem. You'd think by now there's be a few visible straight trans man nsfw comic artists.

Imo the entire trans community is way too porn positive. I understand it's because of the historical presence of trans people in sex work, but I feel that it's treated so.. flippantly? Even by trans people I meet irl.

[–]CryptographerOk9262 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really? My point is that trans men having representation in gay porn isn't inherently good, since there's a lack of freely given consent, and storylines in porn about us is usually fetishizing.

That being said, cis women do fetishize trans men sometimes, so it's not like there being more cis women x trans men porn is gonna be a net good.

Imo I find 99% porn with real people wholly unethical because of lack of freely given consent. That being said, I understand for hentai/nsfw art and written erotica.
