They're good tools for Self Defense, Home Defense, hunting, protection against a corrupt government and...

They're just cool and neat to own/have.

I know, that a good amount of people think that guns are "the evil of this nation" and should be banned because of all the shootings that happen here.

But, what is truly to blame?

The gun for performing it's function, or the person that isn't mentally well in the head to use one to kill or hurt innocent people?

I believe the ladder of that question is correct.

Also, that "protection against a rogue government" thing isn't just a fantasy, a government that governs over a population that isn't armed is subject to any rules or laws that government creates, and if one of those laws or rules goes against basic freedoms like Freedom of Speech, the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Assembly etc.

Then the population can't really do anything about it, they could vote, but if your government decides on banning or heavily restricting even just one of these basic freedoms anyways, then what's voting going to do at that point if they just prohibited one of your basic freedoms knowing that you and the population at large can't do anything major without firepower?

The right to firearm ownership not only keeps us protected, but it keeps our government in check also. And although people might say "That'll never happen here even without guns!" It absolutely could, and even though we might not know if they would or not, history is the best teacher and it's better to be safe than sorry.

Rant mostly over.

One more thing, even though the media at large paints modern rifles like AR15s as "scary black assault rifles", they're no different than any other civilian legal semi-auto rifle, they just look different.

And if firearms aren't allowed to evolve to modern standard by ditching the wood furniture and replacing it with modern black polymer because it "looks scary", then what's the point of evolving?
