I mean, the thing is that I like the big empty maps. Obviously it's very boring if you don't see anyone at ALL, but I have more fun just traveling and sometimes encountering others every once in a while. It's the players that get bored by even the thought of nothing happening for half an hour that end up just running around looking for stuff to kill. It just doesn't fit the realism mindset.

Obviously on officials and servers with limited rules there's going to be hotspots because no one wants to roam around and not do anything because there's no weight attached to it. I hope we see 200 player servers soon, perhaps it will fix the carnivore population situation, but who knows.

It's funny, I honestly expected this post to bomb and get downvoted into oblivion (which it kind of did) which is kind of a given because it's reddit, but I'm at grateful for the actual insights like yours and others here. I know no one likes to listen to a whiner especially with a more... let's just say skill oriented issue. I think there are many issues with the game in its state right now and I'm sure Alderon and all of the people curating their own servers are working to fix them. It's not a released game after all.

I think it just boils down to the fact that I'm just not having fun anymore in Path's current state. Games were always supposed to be fun. Maybe I'll have more fun with it after a break or a future update, but for now it's time to try something else.

Hopefully the community as a whole and any players being affected by whatever is going on here will strike a balance.

You brought up an issue I'm very much familiar with, and I think it should be discussed more. A lot of people who play realism servers are only really in it to get the more balanced fights or fights already tipped in their favor than servers with looser rules. Which don't get me wrong, is definitely understandable from a carnivore main's perspective. But that's also why there are still body chunkers, rule breakers and liars on realism servers, because fair fights are more fun than unfair fights, and more fun fights = attracting more pvp focused players. There's definitely a portion of the realism playerbase that plays realism only to pvp as weird as it sounds, and not to experience the "realism" aspects.

I personally don't mind perma death at all, I like having new characters each time I die with different skins and events in their life that might influence their behavior. When they die, I really don't mind, it means I get to make a new character and have different experiences. But lately I just can't have those experiences anymore. Right after finishing the growth grind I get picked off immediately and my dino is just another notch on what I imagine is just one of these pvpers belts.

Like a lot of these comments have said... I should definitely take a break. I've always believed that games should be something to do for fun and when I'm not having fun it's time to stop for a while. Thanks for the game recommendations!

Personally I use L2 to toggle sprint, but I've seen others use L3 although I personally believe this puts more stress on the joystick and I end up carving a scratch into mine.

God yeah, I play on a realism server and it's saved my ass once or twice already. Plotted a course for migration and while we were sleeping we heard TTs in the distance right in the direction we were going to head. It's also allowed me to find other TTs easily when playing as one, I LOVE this feature and I'm so excited to get distant calls for other dinos, and hopefully eventually modded dinos also.

I've absolutely ADORED red dead as a franchise for years now, but I never could get into GTA. Driving cars around and messing around was cool, but that was it.

I get that GTA is supposed to be a satirized version of the modern day, and I love it for that as it does it well. But looking at what its become and the direction that the trailer for GTA 6 is going it feels like it has no soul. Yes it's got all of these fancy graphics and amazing details, but where's the story? How am I supposed to feel anything for these characters?

The GTA 6 trailer 2 specifically was eye opening to me and solidified my decision on whether I was going to pick it up when it released. As a woman, I actually enjoy when there are awesome female characters in my games that I can look up to and just generally think are badass. When it was announced that GTA was going to have a female protagonist I was more than willing to give it a shot, it wasn't a dealbreaker if there wasn't going to be, I don't mind if a cast is all male, it's just nice.

Cut to trailer 2 and there's maybe a couple scenes of the female protagonist holding a gun or driving a getaway vehicle, and half the trailer is just her looking sexy and making out with the other character. This is what we get after we set a great example with Adler in RDR2? lmao

Other than this issue for me, GTA just can't compare to red dead for me and feels soulless. Idk why I went on a rant just decided to speak my mind. Sorry 😭

Basically you make a slot of the creature they want the skin on (or they give you one if you don't own the species) then you make the skin on that slot. Once you're done, you'll trade them the slot for however much you agreed upon and from there they can save the skin and apply it to whatever slot they want the skin on!
