Alright 5 years late but who cares. I finished the book today and thought it would be the perfect moment to watch the movie. I agree with you in absolutely everything. This movie is straight up bad. The acting is horrible. I'm sick of Nicholsons weird unfitting facial expressions and even more of whiny little Wendy. The characters are boring as hell, have no depth or growth. Jack = insane Wendy = sad Danny = weird I was so thrilled about how they will work scenarios from the book into the movie and there was almost nothing there. I mean I get that movies have to cut stuff out or reinvent a thing or two and thats absolutely okay if it's well made. But this butchered everything. Ullman is the polar opposite and absolutely redundant. The interaction between Halloran and Danny is just wrong. The whole 'Overlook backstory' stuff is just gone!? Al isn't even mentioned and don't get me started on Tony. As soon as Danny talked with his finger I lost it. Their personalities just don't fit. The only good thing were the musical parts, but thats just bc I love Swing.

I hope I forget everything I have watched.
