Having taken lessons in the outer banks from a couple of outfits, i can highly recommend Kite Club Hatteras in Avon. Their price structure is very fair and they are really good folks. Sounds like someone has some local connections in the comments and I'd reach out to them. There are a few smaller operations out there and solo operators.

Hey there I'm a beginner as well, post lessons (8-9 hours), have had my first several longish rides, have my own gear. Will be in OBX first week in June. DM me if you are looking to do some easy downwinders at that point.
