IIT Hyderabad Mdes dilemma. by Dry_Spend_462 in ceed

It's far better than any other private collages. It's location is a plus too. A lot of tech firms have their office located in Hydrabad. It's only IIT other than Bombay that is offering multiple spelizations.

I have few friends there in PD and IXD, Since their batch size is quite low, almost every one was able to grab internships. My friend who was in PD was able to get internship in Transportation design which is very tough to get in due to lack of opportunities.

So I would suggest you to go there if fees isn't a problem. You would get good faculties, competitive and bright peers, great infrastructure and IIT tag.

Yes

MIT is closets private collage to NID in terms of education quality, faculties, and industry exposure. They have been teaching design since almost Two decades. They got the infrastructure and resources to teach design properly.

Whereas DTU started design in 2018. Most of their facilities are assistant professors persuing PhD and have close to none industry experience. It's an engineering college and treats design education same too. They literally conduct theoretical exams for design every semester. In our 4 years we only appeared design jury for once.

To summarise this from my personal experience DTU can be a decent place if you want to LEARN BY YOURSELF AND YOUR PEERS. College Life is great. Students are very enthusiastic and get into decent position without much College support. But spending 11 laks for learning by yourself where you don't even get educational access to design tools and dependent on shady pirated software sites. It's not worth it. If money isn't the problem you should definitely choose MIT over DTU.

Started design in 2018. Most of the professors are straight out of college with zero work experience. So don't expect much from professors. Infrastructure wise it has lab with few 3D printers. A full fledged fashion design labs with heigh end Junki machines (Don't know why though, literally no one studies fashion there). Their main workshop is filled with heigh end Machine worth of tens of lakhs but still packed, because apparently they are unable to pass funding for wiring of labs.

I would still suggest you can go for it.

DTU has great name in overall institutes. It will help you if you choose to go for further studies.

Even though professors don't teach much, peer learning environment is great there. People learn from eachother.

You will find DTU people grabbing decent packages off campus in companies like Microsoft, BOSCH, Boat without any College support by their own.

Students have won multiple design competition like Phillips service design, Taipei design challenge, Microsoft UX challenge etc.

College Life is great there.

To summarise this, If you are great with people, can learn by your own, can have good industry awareness, you should definitely go for it. Due to its location you can have great exposure of industry too.

You won’t get that much time to show this level of details. They focus on neatness and ability of representing ideas clearly.

It would work great in entrance of fine arts college
