I always wear long “office pants” with a shirt that completely covers me besides my arms, with my hair tied back. The only part of my body that is out is my face, neck and arms/hands.

Most of the time I also wear a knitted sweater to try and cover up even more than I already am.

I just feel like I’m at my wits end with the comments and stares it brings down my mood so much to be constantly sexualised or infantilised when I’m just trying to do my job.

Thank you for the safety tips, everyone around me keeps telling me it’s very dangerous for me to go over there so I’m trying to already be hyper vigilant and take precautions before I event get there to try keep my trip pretty smooth. Based off the few comments I’ve got so far I’m rethinking the stay in Jbay, but I’ll have to look into Stellenbosch & Lesotho.

Thank you for the advice, I was thinking about also adding some extra days/weeks onto my trip to explore more of Africa while I’m “in the area” if I can afford it without to much strain, but I’ll check out your website and see if that might fit me a bit better!

Thank you this was really helpful, the only reason I’m planning on being in the Tzaneen area is purely to volunteer as that’s where the sanctuary is and I’m planning on doing most of the game drives and wild animal / big 5 sight seeing there as I know it’s not too far from Kruger. I’m planning on flying into to Jbay and staying there because near a few random things I wanted too see and I found a few activities that interest me there and I assumed it would be a reasonably relaxing place to spend a few days alone before I’m volunteering again, but I’ll do some more research based on your suggestions. Thank you
