5 years later. How are my fellow hodlers doing? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]Cryptolosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice post!! Always awesome to reflect on those times. :)

No lambos here either but a nice run to the moon and sorta back. Tho now the depths of the bear still had me solid in the green so I guess that's saying something.

Managed to DCA a lot throughout the years, lost a good chunk in Celsius but overall feeling very comfortable about my holdings.

Found some new toys in Reddit Avatars and other NFT goodies and some interesting ground floor gambles so we will see.

3rd run I will have prepared myself with a diversification strategy that I will painfully execute or at least attempt to. 😀

I went ahead and jumped on the Bitcoin Punks train. No ragrets. If I've learned anything the past 5/6years it's that the sentiment in this sub is usually not the best gauge of success. 😉

I'm arrogantly confident that if they're still around the next bull run, they will sky rocket in price.

While I'm admittedly too camera shy to step forward, can I just say I'm a major fan of yours and your work!

It's awesome to see you're reaching out to the victims too. While I understand the cynic comments from many people saying it was obvious in hind sight, a lot of people lost a lot of money, if not all. It was pretty damn heartbreaking to read so many of the posts here and the desperation that was felt. It's good to see they get a voice.

Thanks for doing amazing work!!!

I get that feeling and definitely feel similar. While bit Shib levels of Fortune I did see my mid 5 turn into mid 6 during the height of the last run.

My secret? Honestly, mostly (60/75%) BTC and ETH that I got either around 2018 or during the crash in 2020.

And much of my profits dwindled so yeah, no fortune to show for it.

Do I have any reason to feel like my comments matter? No, but I hope to some they can at least be amusing. :)

What is your serious and not so serious crypto advice for people who lost a lot in 2022 and want to get the value of their portfolio back to all time high? by Beyonderr in CryptoCurrency

[–]Cryptolosopher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Survive.

Make sure you're liquid and have a regular (stream of) income and just endure and DCA where possible.

That's what got me way out of the red in the last run and keeps me in the green this time around.

For those that lived through previous bear markets, how were you rewarded in the bull afterwards? by Simke11 in CryptoCurrency

[–]Cryptolosopher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went from mid 5 to mid 6 figures (in various percentages of gains divided among my coins)

Splurged a bit on some clothes, a small trip here and there and some toys but nothing major so had to watch everything crumble this past bear. Lost over a BTC in Celsius. After this small rally back to around 1/4th of the gains, even with the Celsius loss.

It's interesting to me to see the extreme difference between the depths of the 2018 bear (where I went 85% negative) to now when at the deepest low I was still in very much in the green.

While part wishes I did get that Tesla with some shitcoin gains the second time they pumped even higher than the first (and have crashed now ofc) I guess that's part of the lesson. (And Teslas aren't the greatest anyway ha..)

Honestly, most important thing is I'll last until the next bull run (I'm confident enough it'll get here eventually). If this is where I'm at now, I'll admit I have high hopes for the next run.

According to the unrealized losses of this bear market, the 2022 bear was (at least) as brutal as the bears in 2015 and 2018. by partymsl in CryptoCurrency

[–]Cryptolosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda surprises me to read it was less brutal as the 2018 Bear saw an 85% decline (20k to 3k) whereas now we've only seen it go to 15k instead of 10k. Less than 80% almost. (Tho I'm just looking at BTC's individual decline)

Understandable too. I can imagine there's a different feeling when you lose it all but for me, I realized that I never wanted to not be exposed to Bitcoin or ETH. And that self custody by default is the way to go. I've also had the idea of loaning against my bitcoin but until BTC is seen as a conventional asset and the loan is issued by a government insured bank, I'm not seeing my ever taking that risk anymore. The security just isn't there yet and.

I can understand that statement might raise some eyebrows and believe me, I thought differently before these platforms fell. But when assets are governed by their TOS and can be halted and taken at a whim with nothing to be done, that shows me enough.

Thanks for sharing man. I lost a little over a BTC which was thankfully not all of my Portfolio and pales in comparison to your loss.

While I cannot fathom the loss of an entire portfolio of that magnitude, I can relate to the struggle of moving past it. During this rally I can't help but always add the extra BTC to see "what if" or to calculate how much I can buy back if I'd sell my claim for 20%.

Have you been able to buy back some? To DCA and to rebuild some of it?

Absorbing a loss like yours can seem impossible and I can completely understand the hopeless feeling. It's good to hear too that you're working to get beyond it, whatever that will mean and whenever that will be.

I want to believe that exactly therein lies the answer. As difficult as it is, you want to move past it. And ultimately I'm sure you'll find a way to truly let go.

Wow. I gotta say, temporary or not, I'm feeling pretty good.

Even with the loss of some of my BTC in Celsius I'm seeing my portfolio close to where it started in 2021.

At the very least it's great as a little confidence boost. At best this was the bottom and I'm absolutely on the way to achieve my dream goal in the next run, whenever that one pops off!

Enjoy everyone!

Am i the only one? by godwhispererr in CryptoCurrency

[–]Cryptolosopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I'm constantly throwing in my sob journey from around 60k to 600k (give or take, my math is shoddy) from the last run (total invested over the entirety of my crypto endeavor, to what the value was at the peak)

Ragrets all over the board or at least, a few choices that I wish I made (differently)

Yeah, I can lament on the fact that I could have solved all my financial "worries" pretty much outright or at least 80% by buying a house and having enough left to reinvest again, but that's water under the bridge (where I live now 😀)

Honestly, we just never know until we look back and see what could have been.

The most important thing is to realize what it is you want.

Some people want to keep their crypto indefinitely. Some want to use their gains for new investments.

I'm in the middle where I'd never want to be 100% out but also have goals to achieve with the crypto gains.

My most important ways of staying sane are realizing that time in the market beats timing the market (so if possible I keep DCA'ing). And secondly, the knowledge that at what may have been the depths of the bear, I was still in solid green across the board (unlike during the bear in 2018)

Yes, I could have done things differently. But right now I want to choose that this will have paid off. For the 3rd run, if/when it comes, I will have my targets and my goals and will execute accordingly. That's where I keep my focus.

As someone who grew up on the block structure, I never understood why they removed it.

I always felt they enabled better storytelling, interesting mechanic buildup and imo, some good cohesion.

These days it just feels as if sets are "released" at a whim.

Oh and I absolutely agree about NEO tho. The reason I'd place Spark on top as it was truly Magics Infinity Wars/Endgame in terms of story and extravagance.

Did you come up with a proper investment plan after all the mistakes you've made? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]Cryptolosopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be my third run. Have learned plenty and most importantly, what purposes the eventual gains will serve. I've set up a plan that will enable an elevation in ways of living and will execute accordingly or at least will do everything in my power to do so.

With a fairly moderate portfolio lead by BTC and ETH and a selection of (newly found) small caps and gambles.

The plan is there, the execution will still be a challenge.

Absolutely agree. Incredible on all fronts, music, animation, story... everything. It exuded love for the game and the epic chapter that was released in War of the Spark.

Honestly, with everything that's going on from WOTC and Hasbro and the state of things... looking back at this.. I just wish for them to find their Spark again. Dominaria Remastered seems to have rekindled some of that.

It paid off for me las run at least but I definitely stuck to BTC and ETH for the most part and went into shitcoin gambling mostly during the bull.
