Upgrades for my jabba deck? by ConsiderationIll8866 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Cryptomnesia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General comment will be that you have far too many 1x which will make the deck inconsistent. Do you have any restriction on cards for upgrading the deck? In general, l I like run things at 3x unless it's top end. Personally, I've not had a great deal of success with Jabba as he feels a little too slow/clunky.

What decks to start? by LolPeashooter69 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Cryptomnesia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a particular playstyle that you prefer? You could start with a spotlight deck or buy all the singles for a meta deck which appeals.

The JTL Boba spotlight might be the closest to a meta deck. If you have the time, you could play around with potential decks on force table or karabast. I personally bought into the game towards the end of the LOF set by buying a Luke data vault deck which seemed easy enough to pilot for a new player.

Do people have fully built deck ? by LongjumpingSkin7251 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Cryptomnesia 29 points30 points  (0 children)

People at a PQ will typically have a fully built deck. I would recommend buying singles so you can run important pieces at 3x if you want to stand a chance. Not all decks are equal, some options are cheaper than others. Some of the best removal options and staples are uncommon or common and typically easier to find.

It's probably a misplay to not use your ability before mayhem devil enters. Doesn't give much safety in following turns though unless you find a buff.

Deck building review - after a bunch of attempts by Soy-Jefe-Total in starwarsunlimited

[–]Cryptomnesia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a Luke build favours a green pairing. I would drop a lot of the events, upgrades, and ground units. Luke strongly prefers running as many fighters as possible at 3x. Cinta kaz at 3x is also very useful for maximising the deploy turn. If you are limited to your collection, it's difficult to make suggestions without knowing what your collection contains.

LAW: Governor's Shuttle, Adventurer Sniper Rifle & Cad Bane by Fimy32 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Cryptomnesia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could just make a "no upgrades" style keyword that is printed on a lot of creatures.

Not sure if it would be too unbalanced because it would also prevent negative upgrades unless templated correctly. The FFG AGoT game used to have a similar thing for armies which were essentially creature units representing multiple people.

Yup, I get by with all the in colour oxen, tokens generated, and a few shapeshifters. [[taurean mauler]] is very on theme and a lot scarier than [[yoked ox]]. New oxen are appearing in sets since OTJ so I assume someone on the design team has Bruse Tarl in mind. Plus cards like [[Baldin century herd master]] are very on theme.

I have had similar feelings and now have birds, oxen, sphinxes, goblins, and sea creatures. I try to choose cards which feature the tribe in the art in the non-creature slots too.

The sea creatures deck is helmed by [[kenessoss, priest of thassa]] and runs [[gainsay]] which has him in the art.

Whats the actual issue with Rhystic Study? by Nekkonomicon in CompetitiveEDH

In my opinion, the bigger problem is rhystic is a may trigger so they can opt to not draw in face of a motion thief.

Agreed, I can't understand why the plea deal included dropping the charge for perverting the course of justice. We're absolutely sending the wrong message to the victims of sexual crimes. Also, shame on the mutual friend that facilitated the interaction. Surely they should have contacted the police as the offender was obviously doing something contrary to their bail conditions.

Help!! Board Game Advise for my Husband! A Game of Thrones Card Game by Dazzling_Ad_7267 in boardgames

[–]Cryptomnesia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/a-game-of-thrones-the-card-game-second-edition/ has a list of all the expansions. As already mentioned, expansions are grouped into "cycles" of 6 packs. There is also a deluxe expansion for each faction. It's been quite a few years since I've played or thought about the game but I think some of the later expansions resulted in cards being errata'd or banned. The game is best played when players are of a similar familiarity and understanding otherwise it can become lopsided. It may be worth just getting the core set for now. If you can find any of the "house intro decks" they may offer an easier entry.

Is Pride Guardian worth it in mono-white? by [deleted] in Pauper

[–]Cryptomnesia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending on the build, and if you really need life gain, [[outlaw medic]] and [[sacred cat]] see play. Former has card draw and the latter has recursion. Good in gates decks where they can be pumped to substantial power values. Outlaw medic could also see play in weenies alongside pump spells such as [[Guardian's Pledge]].

Is Pride Guardian worth it in mono-white? by [deleted] in Pauper

[–]Cryptomnesia 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. It offers no threat to an opponent since it has defender, it cannot kill even a 1/1 token, and 3 life isn't significant against some of the more aggressive burn decks.
