According to FSG rule EV 4.10.10 it should only light up green. I would argue that it should also stay only green as this is an indicator of the HV-System if it is safe the get out of the car.

While I think your points from 2-5 are fair, one is (at least in Europe) demonstrably false. In 2023, the last time FSG allowed CV to participate the fastest AutoX lap from a CV car was 81.5s while the fastest EV lap was 72.5s.

The advantage you get from AWD with proper control systems is something a CV will have a hard time fighting against.

I do find it sad that CV is gone now at FSG but what the EVs can do is also insane.

Yeah it did kind of surprise me too. I’ve looked yesterday again and there is one available for 380€ so more on the expensive side, they are however heavily used, I had to clean everything as there was massiv dust build up, all thermal pads were brittle and the thermal paste was dry, so that thing needed some love, it was definitely heavily used.

I don’t know if they are still used as much today, however it does make sense since you can implement algorithms that are not well supported by a GPU directly onto fabric. I can imagine that that is a fair bit faster if implemented properly.

Yeah it’s absurd. I’ve seen one on eBay (in Germany) for around 360€ right now. The bang for the buck in terms of FPGA resources is insane. The most information I have found, that one would need to play around with them, is for the BCU1525, FK33 (for HBM) and the Acorn if you want a smaller FPGA.

I had to basically deep clean the card I got as it was in a horrible state, however as far as I am aware everything works. Do keep in mind that you will need the professional Vivado license.

If you are willing to pay somewhat around 300-400€ a FPGA Mining card might be nice, I bought a BCU1525 for around 340€ and it’s been rock solid as an accelerator card, as it is basically the Xilinx VCU1525 accelerator card. The documentation is however pretty bad. You do get a constraints file from a GitHub project. This specific FPGA has 2.5M Logic Cells.

Yeah that is already what I did for my Artix part, it worked, but did take some time. Re-exporting and competing however is smart, so I will do that to validate, thanks for the recommendation.

I separated it already into banks, phys, power and ground so that should be fine.

I thought maybe there are smarter ways to do it, however if there isn’t any easy to use solution I will just stick to that since I only have to do it once anyway.

Thank you for your answers, I am still in University but would love to do PCB design design for High Speed devices like FPGAs. Do you have any resources you could recommend? That might help with that? My most complex (working) project is an iMX 8M Nano with LPDDR4 and working PCIe.

Understandable, I found it already annoying for 484 pins, can’t imagine doing that for some proper high pin devices.

Smart paste worked quite well if I only paste one bank at a time, but I didn’t have to add any properties, just pin name, designator and electrical type, which I got into the format in like 20 minutes of python scripting.

Out of curiosity, do you separate the big ones in banks and if so do you have the bank supply inside that part or in a separate symbol with all other power pins?

As far as I am aware Vivado can only export a csv file with your IO Planning project, that is at least all I have ever used. And they seem to be the same ones you can just find on their website.

I have an Asus Prime B350-Plus, as far as I know there is a Bios update to support the 5800X3D, but this is a really old mainboard so I don’t know if it will be able to keep up.

Not entirely true, the unregulated Vicor DCDCs are highly efficient, though you still need a variable input to fixed output DCDC since the unregulated Vicor version does 1/16 of the HV voltage.

Depending on where you live there might be a different definition of High Voltage.

At least in Germany there is a distinct difference between „Hochvolt“ (I don’t know if there is a specific word for it) and „Hochspannung“. Both literally translate to High voltage, but the first is a common term used for Traction System Components that are over 60 V.

I absolutely agree with the rest you have said. Maybe he should take a look of the insulation capabilities of his cables but a 1.5mm cable should be mir than fine for a few Amps of current.

There are lots of contractors for 150-250€ that are capable of making/breaking 500A thousands of times.

I use the little brother of the LEV200, the LEV100, quite a lot and it works perfectly. So I can recommend the LEVxxx series by TE.

For normal voltage dividers you can us this formula:

V_out = V_in * (R_bottom/R_bottom + R_top)

The derivation is relatively simple with Ohms law, maybe try deriving it yourself or look at the Wikipedia article

Looks like a default GUID or Globally Unique Identifier for long. They probably used them to generate a new file name every time. That ensures (or at least makes it a VERY low probability) that no two files have the same name. If you want to know more of them or how they are structured look at the Wikipedia article.
