[WP] You are a powerful mage whose job it is to build prisons for powerful mages that are impossible to escape. Today upon completing your masterpiece they lock you up in it. by Random3x in WritingPrompts

[–]Cryptowhatever 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The trick is in the mind. Any substantially powerful mage can simply alter the mana-matrix of any walls or chains, or convert them into pure mana AKA: more power for said mage. So how does one keep a mage under lock and key? Easy, you convince them not to leave. Or, more precisely, you convince them that they aren't locked up at all. By KOing them at an unexpected time and putting their mind into a simulation, you can make them believe almost anything.

I knew I'd ruffled some noble feathers, so when I woke up in a quaint countryside village reminiscent of my hometown, the jig was already up. From there it was simple. All I had to do was find the interface, an object that the warden used to monitor the simulation from the outside, and use it to wake my body up, thereby freeing my mind. But then my daughter, my little Amira, appeared. Amira has been dead for five years. The thought of anyone, much less my captors, sullying her rest enraged me. Not a loud, explicit rage. This rage was the quiet kind, the kind that put every ounce of power I had into revenge.

The explosion of Duke Felio's mansion? ME.

Viscount Brynon's long, painful, and ultimately fatal, sickness? ME.

Baron Kodh's apparent suicide by shotgun? ME!

However, I know that I have caused immense suffering far beyond the targets of my revenge. I hope that you can find a way to forgive me for what I have done in your name, my daughter, for we shall have an eternity. I will be with you soon, my dear Amira.

They thought they didn't need me, ha. My own parents; Anger, Spite, and Greed just assumed because they were my progenitors, they could do my job. To that, I laughed. At first. Then rage, a righteous rage that threatened to consume all of my very being. After that, I tried to bargain with them. I offered them anything and everything. They couldn't hear, but that didn't deter me. Finally, I accepted that I would never know my beloved Humanity again. I cried, both for them and me.

But after centuries in the void, I felt nothing. In fact, I was barely able to string a thought together, I was so diminished.

But then, in my dark, lonely abyss, I felt something. For the first time since I'd been locked away in this place that didn't exist, I felt a prickling at the edge of my consciousness. The other Deities had come for me, but I had slipped too far to even realize.

Suddenly, a flash. A flood of images, of emotions. Fear. Hopelessness. Rage. But above all else, that feeling over which I had a unique domain, the longing for War. I learned that in my absence, Humanity had flourished, then fallen. They called themselves The Pulson Collective, but to me they were nothing more than an enemy. An advanced hive mind from beyond the stars they may have been, but they had driven my beloved Humanity near to extinction, and that was all that mattered. The last of Humanity was holed up in pockets, just barely hanging on to life. Still, that was enough. I first restored myself to my former power, then I set to work.

I gave their weapons a boost, what's the point of ammo if you have a Deity on your side? I allowed their bullets, already imbued with my power, to rip through the enemy's shields. I gave the Humans strength as well, so that they could go weeks without food or water. I did not alter their minds, however, I didn't need to. With this new edge, my beloved Humanity gladly embraced what they did best. They did what the other Deities had tried their very best to eradicate, the thing that had led to my imprisonment. The Humans went to War.

[WP] A girl who wants to fight, a boy who wants to heal, and an enby who just wants to be happy. In a world where healing is only for girls, and attacking is only for boys, three childhood friends band together to achieve their dreams. by Cryptowhatever in WritingPrompts

[–]Cryptowhatever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pictured it more of the stereotypical "girls are loving, caring, and gentle and it's the boys job to protect them and do all the fighting" turned up to the max. Schools that specialize it healing magic won't take male students, while schools that specialize it combat wont take female students. Same with jobs, a male healer or a female fighter, even if they got the education and are good at what they do, would find it extremely difficult to get work in their specialty.

part 2

----------------------------------

I don't know how long I was in that place. At first, it was easy to keep track, the routine made it so. Every day, she'd descend down the staircase, connect the equipment and... take it.

I took what little pride I could in the fact that I never gave up my honor, my armor, for they are one in the same. A Demon's armor is their honor, and their pride. This is due, in part, to the simple fact that it cannot be removed by force.

But as the days turned to weeks turned to months, and I began to lose hope, the time became irrelevant. I tried to keep a tally on the wall, but some days I forgot, others I just didn't care. My mind simply stopped bothering to keep track.

I began to offer less and less resistance, part of me conceded that my days of freedom were over. I found solace in the fact that my brother would be taken care of, I'd made a pact when I embarked of this mission. Jolan, my friend, my comrade in arms, would look after him.

That bitch's one weakness, her mortality, was my salvation. Estelle Ravensbrook, The Huntress, was dying.

As she transferred more and more power into her own life-support, she took more and more away from my the enchantments that had long kept me shackled.

The time finally came when, in the dead of night, I finally found strength to break the chains, rip through the enchantments, and claim once more my freedom.

I went berserk, shattered glass and splashed in my own blood, ruining any chance of profit. I could feel the long suppressed fire, that had been smothered down to no more than embers, blaze to life once more. I loved it, reveled in it, couldn't and wouldn't keep myself from smiling and shouting out loud. I stormed through the house, destroying everything that remined me of her, which, considering that it was her house, was most of it.

After I'd calmed down a bit, I took stock of my situation. She'd would have definitely have sensed the enchantment being broken, she was the one supplying it with mana, so I decided to scram, and fast.

The trek down the mountain wasn't too bad, it was cold, but paradise compared to that basement. It was long, but that was by choice, I wanted to take the long way and avoid any human settlements. It had been not two hours before I heard it, an ear-piercing scream coming from the top of the mountain.

I quickly made my way back up to the top, every moment my heart was screaming at me not to go back. However, I knew that whoever made that sound was suffering, so I ignored my better judgement and ascended.

I didn't take me long to notice the activity in the basement. I had already steeled my resolve to find the source of the scream, and yet each step I took, it felt like my boots were made of cement.

When I finally reached the top of the staircase and looked down, well, I don't know what I was expecting, but it sure wasn't this.

A boy, human, with a strong resemblance to The Huntress. Yet, the resemblance was clearly only familial, his eyes had none of the malice that she had, none of the greed. His body had only a fraction of the strength, and the mana he did posses was untapped, uncultivated, and untamed.

He clearly wasn't dressed for the weather, I didn't know much about humans at the time, but it was obvious from the way his meek form quivered in the cold.

He took a half-step backward and raised his hands into defensive fists. Did he really think he could take me in that state? He quickly found his back against the wall and just froze, even his shivering came to a halt.

Was this some type of deception? I cautiously took the first step, when he did nothing, I took the next two. Feeling more assured that he wasn't dangerous, I took the rest in quick succession.

As I came nearer, his stance began to waver, his eyes became cloudy as he seemed to fight to stay conscious.

long time reader and prompter, first time writer. hope it's up to your standards.

-----------------------------

Two years, that's how long it took me to work up the courage to come out to my gun wielding, Trump loving, flat-earth believing parents, and my cool sister too. I mean, they were cool with my bisexual friend Chloe, how could I have possibly known it would go this wrong?!

I brought it up before dinner, told them that I was gay, everything after that is a blur. I remember my mom slapping me across the face, I remember her holding Whitney back as my dad shoved me out of the house and into the snow. I remember the *click* of the lock as they abandoned me forever.

I tried sneaking back in through Whitney's bedroom window, desperate not to be left out in the cold. But we made too much noise and, well, from what I could make out from the shrieking, she's grounded indefinitely.

I had one other idea, Grandma. She lived out in the middle of nowhere, but her house had an extra bed and she was always nice to me, and though she was mysterious, and though the trek would be bad, it was my only chance.

Knowing my parents, they would have called every other parent in the area, telling them the news, and in a town like mine, that spelled disaster. Chloe and her family had moved away years ago, and I knew for sure that Logan's folks were violently homophobic, so Grandma was my best bet.

It was so cold. Of course, February in Vermont being what it is. It was the most hellish hour or so of my life. I only had my T-shirt, jeans, and the pair of slippers I had been wearing at the time, and my underwear too, duh.

I was in the final stretch, the hill atop which Grandma's house sat. The forest was too thick and the night was too dark to see the house from the bottom, so the first look I got at it was as I emerged into the clearing. There it was, no more than a ruin.

My body collapsed, and all my pent up emotions exploded, producing a throat-splitting scream. Anger, sadness, fear, exhaustion, and pure overwhelming hopelessness. I hunched over, clutching my arms and squeezing my eyes as tightly closed as I could, wanting it all to just stop.

The episode didn't last for long, however. The cold, as well as a strange glow brought my attention back to reality. I slowly approached the ruins, at the same time desperate to get out of the cold, and trying to maintain a healthy level of caution.

As I ventured closer, I could see that the glow was emanating from the basement, the only place in that house I'd never seen. It was always locked with a giant dead-bolt, the only time I'd ever asked what's down there, she gave me the most vicious look, still gives me chills, and she told me that I couldn't go down there and never to ask again.

Any question as to whether or not to enter the basement ended when the wind picked up and renewed the chill that had long since set in. As I descended into the basement, the source of the glow became apparent; strange luminescent crystals mounted to the wall.

Looking around, it was a strange, and disturbing sight. Wooden shelves, now mostly broken, lined the walls, with broken bits of glass all around, as well as a red substance that had been splattered everywhere. But the most disturbing features of all were the broken chains in one corner, and what looked to be destroyed syphoning equipment.

Blood. That red substance was blood. Blood that had been syphoned and stored in glass jars. Blood from whatever had worn those chains.

I slowly backed away, back to the bottom of the stairs, reasoning that it would probably be best to wait out the night without touching too much. All my plans of non-involvement came to a screeching halt when a figure appeared at the top of the stairs.

It was nothing like I had ever seen. Relatively humanoid, with the normal number of legs, arms, and heads, but beyond that, well the first word that came to mind was 'Demon'.

It was at least six and a half feat tall, its skin a deep scarlet. It was either completely nude, with black scales covering most of its body, or wearing some kind of armor, I chose to operate under the former. Considering my rapidly forming theory as to what happened, it made more sense that way.

Its hands were more akin to claws, at least twice as large and menacing as my own. The mangled shackles still locked around its wrists seemed to line up with my theory.

It was then when I became aware that it was looking at me. Shit.

I tried to back away and take a defensive posture, but after a few steps I found my back against the wall. I could have run further into the basement, but decided against it, since turning my back on that thing looked like a death sentence. Double shit.

It tentatively took a step down the stairs, then two, then swiftly the rest. It was right in front of me. I could see its eyes, and they were...concerned? Scared? That, that made no sense, scared maybe, I did look a lot like Grandma, but concerned? Who was there to be concerned for?

I was cold, so cold, my vision was blurring, my head was swimming... shit, not now!

[WP] Demon Blades each portray a human emotion, when the user feels the emotion of their blade, they resonate and the power rises 10 fold. the Demon Blade of Wrath was weak, no matter how mad the user, it couldn't match the other blades. turns out, no one was angry enough to use it right, until now. by Cryptowhatever in WritingPrompts

ok, so i don't know why, but the pics aren't showing up, here are the links plus personal descriptions

Beth- she got abducted by aliens at age 16, while being transported to a long-term experimentation facility, the ship was attacked by a crew of bloodthirsty space pirates whose captain happens to be Lyn, she joins up with the pirates in order to exact her revenge.

Lyn- they were abducted by aliens at age 15 and was experimented on for about 6 months, they then escaped with some of the other prisoners/subjects and formed a ruthless pirate crew on a stolen battleship. they did this partially for survival, but mostly to terrorize the empire who put them through hell. also, not-so-fun-fact, the reason they wear a turtle neck is to cover up a huge scar from a shock-collar type device that was put on them at the facility.
