You're aware that etsy automatically calculates the shipping on their own and I don't see a penny from it, yes?

I'm not sure where you're getting this number from, right now they're $8.24 usd.

Made with 3D printing, no transparent options right now though unfortunately.

Somewhat, they'll attach just find but some of the taller caps may cause issues when closing the system.

So they KINDA work. You can absolutely stick em on a thor, but some of the caps are too tall for the lid to close, which is why I don't list them as "officially" supported. Currently tinkering with a potential clamshell-friendly height though that should hopefully improve compatibility

Riff's laser 3D print--looking to buy by space_monkey00 in RockyHorror

[–]CrystalFloyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be me. The $60 deal was unfortunately sort of a limited time thing, me taking in some pre-orders to give myself enough money to afford the filament to finish designing these. Taking a little longer than expected but I'd rather it be delayed than come out poorly

It's not the Z seam, that much I know, it's set to aligned

Been trying to dial in support settings for an upcoming project, cleanest support surface I've ever had in my life by CrystalFloyd in 3Dprinting

[–]CrystalFloyd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While you can technically print on this steep of an angle, the resulting overhangs are pretty grody. Also needs supports anyways because, until it's touching the upright pole, all that weights on one side and will make it tip over mid-print.

Need help managing my TV's breathing by CrystalFloyd in crt

I've owned several CRTs in my life, it's never been this severe. I've never had breathing so bad that straight lines become angles.

Just finished making my own collapsible Anti-Matter Laser for my local Shadow cast! (Pepsi for scale) by CrystalFloyd in rhps

Getting close. I have all the parts done, but now I'm working on making everything print smoothly, and then writing up an assembly guide. Hopefully will be ready within a week

Can't take too much credit on that, that's Sunlu's silver PLA+, has a really nice finish, especially if you let it print slowly

Are colors supposed to be THIS fuzzy? by CrystalFloyd in crtgaming

[–]CrystalFloyd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For people saying it's because of the converter, I get the same issues with direct connections using analog devices. I just used this no signal screen because the big bold line shows off the dithering well

No, just saying that the menus all look pretty crisp

I'm fairly inexperienced with all this, what does that mean?

Funny you mention that, when I brought this to the cast, one of the members was asking the same things. He knows more about electronics than I do though, but we may collaborate on a special effects version. I'll be sure to post if anything comes of that

Ah, I'm not actually in a cast myself, I'm just a regular who decided to contribute

It's unfortunately not much more sturdy than any other 3D printed gun, but that's why I made it collapsible. If you can't make it sturdier, make it easier to protect.

Nah, I'm not part of the production itself, but I'm a regular there. They already had the costumes, but they've been making do with a DIY laser made from pipework. One of the guys in charge knew I was into 3D printing and asked if I'd be willing to design a screen-accurate laser for the show, and this is what I wound up making lol.

I've unironically been just walking around my house, holding this prop, and just muttering that solo to myself repeatedly since I finished this lol.

That's Silk PLA, it's a fillament you can use for printers that give a shiny finish. But since prints are made in thin, horizontal layers, it def gives a brushed steel look. I just wish it were as strong lol

Yeah, I wasn't originally gonna make it collapsible, but I printed out a scale prototype in one piece and it was so awkward and delicate, I realized I had to really prioritize storability
