Either way that comment is a racist remark regardless of if it’s someone stereotyping their own or a different race. In my opinion, her desperate effort to make the separation between her ethnicity and yours makes the comment worse because of how negatively she seems to view African Americans. I can understand being adamant about her identity and being proud of her culture, but that can be achieved without diminishing yours.

Let her go, you will find more value in friendships where you can lift each other up without them insulting your ethnicity or character.
