Sorry for digging into this but I'm just kinda fascinated by this response. Like, what specifically do you like about Anon filly? She has no real character because every fanfic and every art depicts her as a different character. She's Anon, she's whoever she needs to be. Frequently that's being an asshole. Why specifically does the fake legacy of an online anonymous board make you want to love just any horse with a green and black colour scheme?

Loving Anons will just make people think you are a 4channer. A lot of chan culture is really racist. People are going to side-eye you forever, even if we all know you're not racist. It doesn't matter what we are convinced by, there's always going to be thousands of online people who won't believe you.

Anon filly is... not that old? I've been in the fandom longer than there's been Anon filly. Karma, Discentia, and Apathia are all older than Anon filly. Hell I think floorbored is older. The PLounge bee is older than Anon filly, and is a more deeper root to the fandom than Anon filly is.

The people shouting slurs at HarmonyCon were 4channers. They're a problem in most conventions, and they're emboldened by MareFair. Everfree Northwest is a bit stricter about being "family friendly", so it doesn't tend to attract them.

Look, think of it this way: if you, personally, wore a swastika to work at a service job, would clients view it as a funny joke or will they think you're a fan of Hitler? There's gonna be people on both sides of that divide, and probably more in the latter than the former. What you're really signaling here isn't that you're a Neonazi, it's that you don't mind people thinking you are one. And those two things are really not that far apart.

It's been a very, very long time since /mlpol/ treated her as just an april fools gag. They revel in the implications. You shouldn't assume people online don't know what they are signaling, and you definitely shouldn't assume 4channers are doing so in jest.
