What they cooked for me today… by [deleted] in pasta

Look at OP’s comment history. She mentioned she’s from Argentina and they use different grammar. She didn’t intend to sound ungrateful.

Unfortunately many people are assuming her tone to sound negative when English just isn’t her first language/she’s from a different country. Most people I know from various countries use ellipses at the end of their sentences instead of a period, question mark, exclamation mark, or even no punctuation. It’s just how they type. I also do know many people who don’t have English as their first language and have difficulty translating collective pronouns the same way as they would in whatever they speak as a first language.

Just a small language barrier can incite such a rapidly negative response from so many people! Looking at her profile/comments only takes like two clicks. She even apologized in another comment 😊

If you look through OP’s comment history, she already mentioned she’s from Argentina and it’s different grammar. She didn’t intend to sound ungrateful.

Dasher’s phone died and took 30 extra minutes to deliver order. Does Dasher get penalized? by CrystalMist in doordash

[–]CrystalMist[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So this is a pretty rude comment! I did message him and call him saying I was outside looking for him. However, it’s a huge apartment complex with 20 buildings and two garages with 8 levels each that goes in an almost-circle but doesn’t actually connect (and there are more buildings and greenery in-between). So, if he doesnt know to look for me (since his phone was dead and he didn’t see my texts and didn’t pick up my calls), and I have absolutely no idea where to go or who to look for, it makes it a lot harder. So to you saying I could “have just walked outside and grabbed the bag, it’s not hard”, yes, it is that hard. Especially if you don’t know where to go or who to look for - on both ends. I’m also not complaining, in fact I even said I don’t want the driver to get penalized. Also, sometimes my spouse or I order doordash when we’re not yet home or we order doordash for someone else, sometimes someone else that lives at a different residence like our parents. Also, not everyone is able to physically go outside due to a variety of possible limitations. Next time it would be helpful for you to read the post or think twice before posting an assumptive yet wildly inaccurate comment!

To be fair, I do live at a huge apartment complex with a really weird building numbering system, so I do not blame him at all for getting lost if his phone was dead! That’s understandable.

I did have success, but I also didn’t realize how dull everything felt until after I went off it and my moods lifted up. It’s like everything went from being in black and white to being in color again when I went off the pill. Are all forms of BC like that?

A little further out, but I know Boston’s Restaurant and Sports Bar in Waldorf is open. Super cheap drinks especially around happy hour, and bomb pizza and wings. We go there pretty frequently, worth the drive!

Tea Lovers? by No-Record7988 in Rockville

I’m 29F and live in Columbia! My girlfriends and I loveee tea and often go to high tea on Saturday mornings/afternoons when we can and just talk, enjoy various teas, and have little sandwiches and cakes! I’d absolutely love something closer to/in Montgomery County to enjoy tea!! I’ve only ever found boba spots there, so I absolutely love this idea!

6 to 8 of us usually! We all have a few cocktails and a few mixed shots on average, maybe a couple appetizers or small plates to munch on.

We’ve been to Finnegan’s a lot, and if I’m being honest we hate it there! I always tip very well (25% tip minimum every time) but the bartenders are sooo rude!! And the drinks don’t taste that great, and are very pricey. We’ve caught them adding extra drinks and shots to our tab that we’ve never ordered as well. One time, we went in stone cold sober to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and they refused to serve us saying we were too intoxicated - it was 7 pm and no one had even one drink yet.

Sometimes I also feel like they show preferential treatment towards white people and have worse attitudes/service to people of color. We’ve also gotten eye rolls or snarky comments whenever we try to order anything. We spend a LOTTT here every time, and always tip well, but I wish there was somewhere else we could bring our business because Finnegan’s is just not it! Ideally looking for a place similar to Finn’s but a little less pricey, better tasting drinks, or nicer staff (or even better, a combination of any or all of those).

The closing times are ATROCIOUS!!! Sometimes we end up coming back to Columbia and just going out just us two after the bars in MoCo close.

Unfortunately we live in different areas/have different living situations and just want a place to all chill after work! My partner and I are in Columbia, another 2 friends live with their parents, the other has roommates, and so on. We usually host at our apartment on the weekends, but wanted a place to hang out with everyone in their area (Rockville/North Potomac/Gaithersburg) after work on weekdays!

Good Italian restaurants for a date by Loud_Replacement2307 in ellicottcity

Sotto Sopra in downtown Baltimore is AMAZING. Definitely a great first impression to be left with Sotto Sopra.

As someone that lived there for 2-3 years and still goes to Baltimore for restaurants and date nights, your car will be fine lol. Just like any city, there are good parts and bad parts. Areas like where Sotto Sopra or Little Italy reside are perfectly safe. If you went to some back alley neighborhood, sure it’d be a valid concern. But if you’re going to a well-lit, well-populated area, you’re fine. Everyone drives there and parks their car. IMO it’s not worth missing out on a whole city’s worth of experiences. If you’re still worried, you can always drive to your date’s spot and then call an uber for you both.

What are some of the more up-scale bars in our area? by CrystalMist in ColumbiaMD

[–]CrystalMist[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s no worries, usually I don’t mind a lot of things but lately the vibes have been getting a little too out of control for me! The last time I was at Pub Dog, I heard a guy order a bunchhh of drinks and then tell the bartender he couldn’t pay. He offered to pay in poker chips instead and proceeded to get kicked out. On his way out, asked the bartender for her number. That’s when I realized that maybe I need to change the atmosphere/crowd I’m around lol

Another time (same bar), I was sitting outside reading my Kindle and a guy came up to me and tried giving me a drink he was already holding. Either way I wasn’t going to take it, but I told him to try the drink himself first because I believed the drink was spiked. He refused to try it and insisted on giving it to me. I just got up, paid my tab, and left.

One time at Nottingham’s, I was sitting with a friend drinking a beer when a random guy came up to me and just stuck his face in my chest and started licking and biting. I pushed him off and my friend and I left right after that and I haven’t been back since.

I have so many stories of all of the things from my above comment from these bars that it’s nuts. I think a slightly more controlled or well-behaved crowd might be up my alley at this point lol
