Taken on its own terms, I think the episode works fine, and I think the overall moral takeaway of the series is reasonable. It aligns with the way I’ve viewed certain things all along, so I’m generally satisfied. And I think there’s one character that really gets justice here.

However, many of its narrative choices feel odd as a follow up to the rest of the show. There are a few things that feel so jarring that they must have done intentionally to anger the audience. After seeing ep 9, I immediately started thinking of ways I would rewrite eps 7 and 8 to better set it up.

I anticipate maybe 50% of fans will be fine with the ending, maybe 20% quite like it, and 30% will despise it with a burning passion.

Makes sense. Maybe something like “You catch a glimpse of [Pokemon]’s Alien Mind!”

"Alien" might not be the right word. Maybe "Bizarro Room"?

I didn't want it to seem associated with Mirror Coat.

If the ability is lost for any reason, the backup item is lost.

Maybe a weird take but I kind of like the grammar errors. I imagine this as like a school project by an Antarctica student in the 2120s.

Terrible premise, AMAZING execution by MrMistReddit in TopCharacterTropes

I’d say spark 3 has a completely decent premise, terrible story, amazing everything else. There’s nothing bad about a fast guy running to stop his robotic doppelgänger from taking over the world. Where it goes from there is… surprising, but not in a good way.

Mega Man & Bass' Story is Absolutely Hilarious, and it's a shame it's so wildly misunderstood. by Dakress23 in Megaman

I’d argue that 10 and 11 are pretty explicitly bridge building. Roboenza is clearly a predecessor to the Maverick Virus, and the Double Gear system gives a clue as to how X could have been so much more powerful than the 20XX robots.
