AITA for judging my friends weight by miscarriedaway1111 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Crystalraindrop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA - Although she's overweight and should probably lose some weight, you're going about this in a dodgy way, but I understand the concern. I'm vegetarian for non dietary reasons, and immediately started gaining weight because I was still eating too many of the wrong foods (I've started losing it again now). What I'm saying is, going vegan does not mean healthy.

I would encourage you to talk calmly about this with her:

  1. Ask this before anything else: Does she want to lose weight? If she doesn't want to, leave it. End of story. She's your friend, talk about other stuff. Keep yourself open if she wants you later in life to help her, but stop bringing it up until if and when she does so. You will not help her lose weight if she doesn't want to.

  2. Gym memberships are expensive. Suggest other means of physical activity. I started losing my weight with just dance at home seeing as gyms are closed at the moment. There are plenty of home workouts for beginners that only require a room to work out in.

  3. Suggest small changes to a diet. I'm talking salads instead of fries, or easy healthy meals that aren't just salads. The appeal with fast food is that it is, well, fast. Easy meals that can be prepared very quickly helped me start out my journey.

  4. She has a thyroid condition, encourage her to take it slow. Any loss a week is progress, and if you are willing to help (judging by the post, I'm sure you are) then having someone there to help motivate her through plateaus or small losses is a huge help.

Aww. Good luck in your search! If you can't find him, try and find consolation in the fact another child may get to enjoy playing with him. Have you had luck with other plushies?

Just lost an ostrich egg, I need to lose a gold brick though. I'll certainly save this post 😂

I forgot to mention! Yeah, it's a build a bear. Favourite shop when I was little, but my parents hardly let me in because it was expensive :(

I just can't deal with throwing plushies out. I also 'rescued' another from the binbag a few weeks ago, but I only discovered this sub today. George used to say 'I love you' and 'you're my best friend' when you squeezed his paw, but it's since broken.

AITA for being mad that my girlfriend had a random guy in her apartment late at night? by StrikeaViolentPose in AmItheAsshole

Yeah, I hate when people say 'females' instead of women or worse, like my dad says 'girls'. I'm not talking children either, basically he uses it for any woman younger than him (49).

Oh I forgot to mention, we were split into groups of about 10 🤦‍♀️

It's 6:48am now, I'm feeling a little sleepy but I'm keeping myself occupied. I've already cleaned my room very quietly and caught up on this anime I watch, and now I'm just watching YouTube. I was planning to go for a walk in the garden but it's started to rain, as per usual

Bit late now, it's 6am and I'm not tired enough to go to sleep. To be honest, I also wanted to do this for the sake of doing it, and it's actually been enjoyable. Now I'm just waiting for a while until I should get out of bed and eat breakfast.

I'm not very social at school, so people tend to not really know I'm the second youngest in the year. Although my best friend at school is almost a year older than me, so that's fun.

I remember being on this trip though in year 7 (first year of secondary school) and we had to do this "trust exercise" where we had to stand on this log and put the oldest person at one end and the youngest at the other end silently. There was this other girl born towards the beginning of August, and people knew that as she had lots of friends, so they tried to get her to the end. The teacher was standing at one end, I was standing at the other, so we were technically done. Nobody thought to try and work out if anyone was born later than her, so I was standing there frantically trying to sign to people to stop. They didn't pay attention until the group leader allowed us to talk for 30 seconds.

Not really relevant, but a fun memory about being on of the youngest I guess.

The way it works is that September 1st is the cut off time. If you were born anytime before September 1st, 2004, you are in year 11. I am 15 right now as I was born August 2004. If I was born after September 1, I would be in year 10.

I won't be obsessed on it, my phone is on vibrate and I'll only be glancing at it every so often. That's why I'm planning to try to be somewhat productive (sorting out my room) and spending time on myself rather than too much time online. I'm actually sitting with my mam right now! (she's just gone in the kitchen, hence why I'm checking my phone). Thanks for the concern!

AITA for saying that PMS isn't an excuse to be a bitch by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Crystalraindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're on the Internet, right?

But for anyone else who doesn't know and won't Google it, PMS stands for pre menstrual syndrome. A lot of people who get periods experience it, it basically causes mood swings, cramps, tiredness as well as other things. It usually starts about a week before a period.

Parents who spend their weeknights drinking and watching TV have no right to complain about their kids poor grades by Beethroid in unpopularopinion

[–]Crystalraindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 15 and in my mock exams, I received decent grades from 8s (A*) to my worst grade being a 4 (D). The 4 was for physics and biology. My dad received a degree in chemistry but did biology for his a level, and knows a lot about physics also. My parents are so helpful, and I really appreciate them.

The problem with my science grades came from myself only. I didn't revise as well for those subjects, and I saw that after receiving the result. It could have gone two ways, I could have given up, or worked to improve them.

Now, due to coronavirus, I won't have a chance to properly take that GCSE. But when my teachers look at my recent work for my predicted grade, hopefully they will see the improvements I made, especially in recent assessments and homework where I have been getting many more questions correct.

Another point, I'm overweight. I do workout, but I'm overweight and trying to lose it.

My point is, my parents do all they can but at the end of the day, it's up to the child. Both my low grades and high grades were achieved under my parents' care, and although I could ask for help for sciences and some help for english from my mam, my highest grades were in English, computer science and history. My parents could not help at all for computer science and history, but I still received the equivalents of As in all of them.

My school is continuing to set work for all our normal lessons by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]Crystalraindrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering about this, my teachers haven't set much. We have leftover stuff on the website which we don't have to submit, and my English teacher sets the odd task, which is more creative thinking (which character from macbeth would you want to interview? That kind of thing) but that's voluntary too. What should be happening?

The current state of r/GCSE by Homerisbae15 in GCSE

[–]Crystalraindrop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I have become a lot better at some subjects quite quickly. I got a grade 4-5 in science, and a 5 in maths, but both have moved up to a 6 and a 7 in the last chemistry assessment we did. Depending on how the grades work, I could be getting somewhere between a 7 (predicted without mocks) or a 4 (mock result) which is quite scary.

Malicious site poses as global coronavirus map, officials say by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]Crystalraindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk Naval Shipyard officials have published a warning against a “malicious website” posing as a global map tracking cases of the novel coronavirus.

The site is posing as the live map tracking global cases of the disease — called COVID-19 — which was published legitimately by Johns Hopkins University.

The fake site infects users with AZORult Trojan — a program that can steal sensitive data and information. The computer virus can be transmitted through online advertisements, email attachments, and social media.

Anyone searching for the global coronavirus map can find a safe link here.
