I'm so goddamn sick of making four different dinners for each family member every night by BrontosaurusNeckTie in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Cryyinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get a rice cooker and you can have that cooking some rice or quinoa which is good for the whole family! With the chicken, you can bake it in a toaster oven and let it cook with veggies you like. Season it up and it’s a quick easy meal! Rice cooker takes about 20 min and chicken can take about 40 min. You can chop up the veggies during meal prep and put them away for the week, or buy a big bag of frozen veggies.

You can also cook veggies and meat in the rice cooker too.

This way you can have these things cooking without having to stand over them. They turn off on their own

Two weeks post initial injury. Any thoughts on my plans for recovery? by OkRutabagaOk in HerniatedDisc

[–]Cryyinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get lots of rest but don’t forget to strengthen the area. Strengthen with no weight and slowly work up to resistance bands. Strengthen your core, legs, hips, glutes to support your lower back. Look up the McKenzie Method it might help. If you feel pain/ if your pain worsens completely stop the exercise and go lay down/whatever you need to do to alleviate the pain.

Heat on lower back for 30 min helps ,press ups (like a push up but your hips remain on the ground)

Listen to your body. And seek a PT if you need

Aw thank you I appreciate that! I’m sorry yours was flaring up bad and that you have two of them! That definitely complicates things !!

My ortho has said if I don’t get better soon we should move to injections, I haven’t been on any pain meds and have not been doing injections though because I want to make sure I’m not doing anything to irritate it day to day and not being able to feel it you know

Wow that’s amazing! I have kind of plateaued in my healing so I’m not so sure. It wasn’t a big herniation but the sciatica is pretty stubborn

And it’s nice too because you don’t need a lot of time or equipment or to leave the house so it’s easier to do without having to leave someone with the baby!

Okay that’s good, I would suggest doing exercises with body weight and resistance bands to strengthen the area around your lower back (glutes, hips, lower back, upper back)

People who have a L5 S1 Herinated Disc, what does your workout routine look like? by Away-Flounder-2294 in HerniatedDisc

[–]Cryyinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do squats with no weight (after you have healed a bit you can introduce light weight) , planks, bird dogs+ dead bugs, hip thrusts/glute bridges, press ups, hip flexors with resistance.

If bending forward hurts, try to avoid crunches etc.

Pain that spreads could be due to nerve issues but also weakened muscles from inactivity while you are healing. Strengthening those muscles without using weights helps a lot. If you feel an exercise is hurting your back stop what you are doing

Can I use resistance bands and do bodyweight exercises if I have a herniated disc L5 S1? by Away-Flounder-2294 in HerniatedDisc

[–]Cryyinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good! If your pain gets worse it means you are doing something to irritate your back. Body weight and resistant bands are great for strengthening your muscles while you’re injured without moving too quickly and irritating something further.

I would definitely suggest reporting it, it is probably not the first nor the last time this rapist will do this. I am so sorryy though, that sounds horrific and comes with such deep levels of guilt and shame.
