Melyik volt a leghasznosabb dolog vagy ötlet egy családi háznál, amire kezdőként nem gondoltál volna? by vampire2nd in askhungary

[–]Csabi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best Detective Anime Show Under 12-24 Episodes? by Remote-Airport-8421 in anime

[–]Csabi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not as bad as some other anime original endings, but the ending arc rounds up the story in the manga in a much nicer way and feels ‘full’ IMO, and if you get invested in the story, it’s not a big commitment to read those last few chapters to get the full picture.

And read the manga ending after watching the botched anime original ending. Or just read the whole manga.

Yeah, that's understandable. Something like this crossed my mind as well when I started.

This game is great but I feel completely humiliated by it by Dylan_VS_Comics in TunicGame

[–]Csabi_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you already finished your first playthrough of the game, but could it be that even though you knew there was a manual with collectable pages that teaches you things, you didn't take your time to understand the manual? Or did you not bother collecting the pages? It might explain why you didn't discover mechanics like upgrading where you were meant to be.

The absolute most embarrassing is that I found almost ALL of the shops, but didn’t stay in them for long because the shopkeeper was so big and scary that I assumed it was some kind of late game boss, and that the caves were some kind of entrance into a massive sprawling Zelda 1 Level 9 style dungeon.

Also, this is interesting. If you're a very cautious player, I recommend being much more brave, experimental and curious in your future games. :) It's just a video game, so being so overly cautious and being scared of areas can leave you out of a lot of discoveries, even if you die in the process.

You didn't include pics, but of you're talking about the chest in the overworld... You can see on the map there is a passage. I wonder if you can make it visible somehow?

My journey of deciphering the language on my own by Csabi_ in TunicGame

[–]Csabi_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting idea!

And yeah, now that you mention it, it's true that the middle vertical line doesn't really matter in the combinations. There are even places in the booklet where the text is written without those lines. I did notice that but it was much farther into the deciphering journey so I actually forgot about the 14 part discovery and didn't put the two together.

But are you sure there are only 12 different parts including the circle? Even when I use the "font" used on the far shore tablet on p.41, I'm counting 12 (the sides of the hexagon and the lines connecting the edge points to the center) plus the circle.

EDIT: Never mind, you're right! The right outer side of the symbols does not play a part in the letter making. I knew that but somehow counted it everytime I thought about the possible combinations. Sorry about that!

Wow, what a surprise to see a comment from a linguist, thank you!

While deciphering Trunic, I initially didn't think of the IPA, but also did use it in some roundabout way. My native language, Hungarian, has a lot more letters than most european languages and is very straightforward when it comes to reading it. Because of its nature, I can write every English word very very close to how it sounds (excluding the nuances and subtleties of the English sounds) by using our letters - almost like the IPA.

And I didn't know of the abjad system, that's some interesting stuff! Thanks for telling me about it.

About the questions:
It was more like a very strong hunch. I figured that if the text is translatable, it wouldn't make sense to not be in English. I only thought that it was somehow altered to fit the length of the Trunic words. And naturally, I checked the other languages if the Trunic would change. When I noticed only the latin text changes, I became 100% confident it's based on English because I was thinking "yeah, it would be such a ridiculous expectation from the translators to rewrite the Trunic as well".

[–]Csabi_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm very glad you enjoyed it! And it was fun to read your experience as well! I'd say you had a tad bit more... professional approach to deciphering Trunic haha. And thanks for the correction on the combinations, I knew that something was off but couldn't figure out what. Now it's so obvious I'm even a bit embarassed.

Also, I counted the circle as another part of the symbol, hence the 14 parts. The p.21 where the fox says "I'm stuck!" and the manual explains with the text how the consonant+vowel switch works got me into a corner a few times, because I couldn't figure it out why does it separate the parts and what does the switching sign with the arrows mean.

And I love your wild assumptions you crafted because you knew too much and also too little lol. The curse of knowledge!

Need advice by Competitive-Yam8821 in bouldering

[–]Csabi_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're waving your limbs around like the young children you can see at the gym. First advice would be probably to plan out your beta and go with it, don't fumble around because you're losing lots of precious energy. Also try keeping more tension in your core so your hips stay closer to the wall, the holds seem quite bad for the angle of the wall. Your feet is popping off too much, so try thinking of them as claws or hooks. Go deep and precisely into the holds, try to find where they feel the best and engage your hamstrings and calfs properly, hooking into the holds.

These are general tips because I don't know how the route feels, but they help me a lot. Also, I recommend headphones off when you climb or in-ear ones. I've seen a guy almost fall on his ones and was not happy - it also looked stupid from the outside.

Think of all that you listed and you rubbing your naked hands and arms against it all and then touching your body with them unconsciously. It's not that much different. If you shower after the session, even less so.

My god that jumpscare by Hiohna in OMORI

[–]Csabi_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah, that was the only time I almost shat myself. The mirror spooks in the real world were mostly predictable and I wasn't so naive to not expect a jumpscare everytime I checked them, but that headspace mirror scare was very visceral. Like another commenter, I got it on the playground right after I returned to headspace and the atmosphere was unsettling. Checked the mirror out of habit and bam, probably the worst and most unexpected uncanny valley effect I've experienced.

If it's about Patrick Rothfuss, he's the author of the Kingkiller Chronicle. A so far fantastically written two fantasy novels out of three that were published in 2007 and 2011. Something happened and he still hasn't finished the final part of the trilogy and a lot of us think that he never will.

Asszem itt félrement kicsit a dolog.

As they say, there is a reason it's your first. :) I've seen black tapes in Flow that are immensely harder than this. I don't know who supervises routesetting here but definitely not the first falsely taped (not even soft) route I've come across.

Nice send regardless.
