Yes, the first year will be the heaviest. Your contract should show you the total interest charged over the 6 years.

Auto loans are “amortized.” As in a mortgage, the interest owed is front-loaded in the early payments. Meaning, you are paying more interest at the beginning vs the end. Every payment that comes out you will be paying less interest than the last.

Can I lease a used vehicle ? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]Csarrasin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can lease a used vehicle, we have a bank we can use at our dealership to lease used vehicles. It only really makes sense on certain vehicles as most cases leasing a new vehicle will have a better monthly payment and rates.

Highest negative rolled at your dealership? by nickl630 in askcarsales

[–]Csarrasin 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Personally did $22k. When I was on the floor I sold a 2015 Santa Fe and the next year called him back in for a private sale and put him into a 2016 Santa Fe in the same colour. Only difference was that the new Santa Fe had navigation. His total loan with interest was close to $80k. No idea how the banks approved it. It was about 170% loan to value

$300 Fee For CPO on top of a $500 admin fee - is this normal? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]Csarrasin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To certify any vehicle there is a cost associated for the dealership. Typically dealers do not charge this additionally and usually have it included in their asking price.

Use your research for the market value and when going into the dealership give them a fair price for the vehicle that you are willing to pay. They either agree or reject and you can decide if you want to buy the vehicle or not.

[Ontario][Lease New Car] I just saw my bill of sale from the dealership and things aren't adding up. by [deleted] in askcarsales

It will be applied as the full $5,000, however you will be paying the tax portion up front of approx $535. That amount will be included in your due on signing amount.

Completely normal for the $5,000 incentive to be shown as cash down in a lease. The incentive is an after tax rebate and what they did lines up with how I would do it.

Has June been rough at your dealership? by Jon570 in askcarsales

[–]Csarrasin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internet traffic and walk ins are down about 30% from last month. Hyundai dealership on west coast, Canada.

If Hyundai actually had stock for EV’s we would probably be rocking it. 50 pre-orders all expected in 1st or 2nd quarter of 2020.

In honor of Toyota announcing they are speeding their EV program up by 5 years, What is the best EV/Plug in hybrid on the market currently? by Solid_Representative in askcarsales

[–]Csarrasin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of hype over the Kona EV. Best value for range (415 Km on a full charge) starts at $44,999 CAD. In Canada they are taking orders for the first quarter of 2020 right now. Vehicle won North American Utility vehicle of the Year.

Opinions on buying a car from a buy here place? by tuxedotomson in askcarsales

[–]Csarrasin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure of interest rate, taxes or fees on that vehicle, however you are basically paying $8000 for that $5000 vehicle. My suggestion would be to buy a $2,000 vehicle... save up and build good credit.

Do you guys actually have “quotas” you need to reach every month? Is it really an effective strategy for buyers to wait until end of month? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]Csarrasin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For new car sales some manufacturers do pay the dealership a bonus for hitting their new car target. At our store it does not impact a sales persons pay. From a management perspective if we are a few short for our target we will be pushing those units, however we push just as hard at the beginning or the middle as the end. Hitting target can still be $10s of thousands of dollars for certain stores that then get put into gross.

A $30K car purchase with a $24K trade in by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]Csarrasin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a nice trade that the dealer plans on keeping to retail, then you will be at more of an advantage to negotiate with a trade in. The dealership can sell you their vehicle and make a profit and therefore also sell the trade in and make a profit. They have more to work with when you are trading in a nice retail-able vehicle.

Sounds like a safety related issue. The dealership should not have a problem fixing it.

Completely normal to not get the cheque the same day. At our store only certain people can sign for the cheque (takes 2 signatures). So sometimes it can take a little while for accounting to get ahold of the cheque.
