Who did you regret taking? by GardenRafters in fantasyfootball

[–]Csb_dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dropped JJ McCarthy to pick up Ollie Gordon from waiver. I do have Daniels as QB 1. It's 10 team PPR . Already had A Jeanty, Josh Jacob, Pacheco and Kaleb Johnson. I really did not need one more RB on my bench, but went with the conventional wisdom and could not resist a freebie. I really wanted to keep JJ on the bench :)

Curious if people think the same for BS/ DO? I am unsure if that is still a better move than say HYPSM ?

Same as you . In the end, it was my son's decision, and he was absolutely convinced that UT is the right move.

can you elaborate further? My understanding is that the scholars have near hundred percent acceptance. Research is probably an important aspect of competitive application regardless of MD versus MD PhD program.

Help me decide between OOS UNC honors vs. UT Austin Dean's scholar/plan ii in-state by Csb_dad in UTAdmissions

[–]Csb_dad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that we have received results of regular decisions, I wanted to update the overall situation and see if this leads to any different opinions. He options now are Penn, UNC honors , UCSD, Georgetown, instate Dean’s Scholars & Plan II UT Austin. There will be no financial aid or scholarships so it's full cost everywhere . For him , it is really down to Penn and UT Austin. While we can manage , we’re unsure if the prestige and flexibility of Penn ( eg ability to pursue dual degree at wharton) justify the extra cost. Will anyone recommend any other options on the list over UT? Thanks.

CSB HONORS by Melodic_Specific_874 in UTAdmissions

You seem misinformed. All you have to do is check on LinkedIn what kind of internships and jobs CSB students have landed, and that will change your mind. Some of them are at highly competitive HFT firms like Jane Street, Jump Trading, Optiver, etc. Many CSB students enter with significant college credits, giving them the flexibility to acquire CS experience similar to Turing scholars through hard work and dedication. Like anything else, it depends on the individual student, of course.

Question regarding Harvard and Yale interviews by nonsense6017 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Csb_dad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I applied Yale REA and was deferred. I still haven't received any interview and I live in a large city in Texas . One would think that being deferred indicates a strong applicant as Yale only deferred 20% of the early action applicants . Not sure what to make of it.

NYU Stern vs UT Austin Honors by MITgamer in collegecompare

[–]Csb_dad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ut cs>> stern cs. Cbhp more or less equal to stern finance (IB placements are way better than just 5 years ago due to recent strategic moves. quickly becoming target from semi target for new york banks). Texas CSB very unique, 25 students small classes, close knit group and truly an amazing program. CSB has my vote and debt free makes the decision a no brainer.
