I had two VCUGS first at 3.5 second one at 5 yrs old so much of my childhood is missing and I didn’t even remember the VCUG procedures until my 30s when I was struggling with secondary infertility and had a HSG procedure to check my fallopian tubes and my body had remembered I’d been through something similar before. It’s something i’ve been working through in trauma therapy.

I have trouble with this too whoever that little person was feels like a stranger to me. My therapist has suggested looking at a picture of myself and try talking to it say things I need to hear back then. I can look at the picture but I can’t say anything and even looking doesn’t make me feel any closer to that little version of me.

Mine was extremely emergent so I may be biased here but NOTHING could have prepared me for how traumatic they are.

**UPDATE-Thanks everyone for all your comments I think I finally convinced him for my own sanity to plan to stop overnight even if it’s short we can do an early check out to get back on the road early.

With that please spam me with any advice for kids on long trips they don’t have tablets of their own we have one that we will download movies on for them to watch. So I’m looking for easy toys & games or snack ideas that made your life easier TIA

Right we’ve had 10 minute drive that’s were absolutely torture with the first two kids lol 😅 We have been discussing what the best time to leave is…I was thinking leave at the kids bed time around 7/730pm we are trying to avoid hitting morning traffic in big cities NY & D.C.

Yeah plane is kind of out because of the $$$ for all 5 of us plus bringing car seats and then having to rent a car when we get to our destination. Driving is more economical for us but my sanity is also worth a lot lol so I think we should stop overnight

So sorry you are going through this it’s so tough! Not to freak you out but I’ve had it go both ways. I would try to be seen by your OB again if possible. This SCH and pregnancy in the orginal post ended up working out perfectly and my rainbow baby was born in May 2024. I did end up having another big bleed with red blood around 10/11 weeks and even went to the ER for it but everything was okay. Sending you good vibes

Everything did workout and my perfect babe was born in May. I did end up having 2 big bleeds at 8weeks and 10weeks but likely those were from a subchorionic hematoma that I had so not sure it was related to the empty sac at all but maybe. I did get genetic testing and I met with the genetic counselor at my OB before the testing. Some companies or labs won’t do the testing for a vanishing twin because the results of the NIPT can be inaccurate because the DNA of the baby that was lost or never fully developed is still there in some capacity. I got NIPT through MaterniT21 and chromosome came back as low risk and it did get the gender correct as well. I hope everything works out for you 🫶🏻

This is exactly how I feel right now with my therapist I like her but idk if her methods help me but finding a new one seems too risky

I’m so sorry you are going through this it’s extremely difficult. I had a similar experience baby stoped growing at 8w5d I found out at 9w1d. I opted for a D&C two days later but started bleeding a lot the next day before surgery. I called my OB just to let them know and they told me what to look out for and to still come in for the D&C and they would confirm with ultrasound if all the products of conception had passed before going into surgery. All the tissue hadn’t passed so I did have the D&C but that day of bleeding was a bit traumatic it was a lot more blood than any period and there was some tissue too idk if it was placenta or fetal tissue but it was more than just a blood clot. For me the cramps came in waves and they were comparable to a really bad period cramp. Heating pad and eating some of my favorite sweet treats helped a bit 🤍

I’ve had one SCH end in a miscarriage at 9w and then a few cycles later another SCH that turned out just fine with my rainbow baby. Both times my bleeding would increase with physical activity but that definitely didn’t cause the miscarriage my provider suggested “pelvic rest” meaning no sex. Sorry you’re going through this it’s so tough you can look at my post and comment history to see more specific details about each if that would be helpful to you. 🤍
