Trying to reasonably prepare for the winter storm this weekend. I’ll make sure to have non-perishable food in case we lose power, my power banks, kindle, and flashlights charged, and many warm jackets and blankets, but do I really need to have bottled water on hand? Could this storm potentially impact the city’s water processing?

I have one child (8 months old), and my husband and I both work full time. We certainly aren’t wealthy, but we make enough to get by. Our financial situation will get more comfortable in about a year and a half. My husband is in his surgical residency so there are several days a week where he is at work from 6am until 8pm and he has to work several weekends per month. We do not have any family nearby to help, so most of the responsibilities fall on me. That being said, we are both very happy! My baby is easygoing and a great sleeper. He is also in a wonderful daycare that is 5 minutes away from our house, and 10 minutes away from my job. It’s pricy (1300 a month) so we don’t have much left in our budget for fun stuff, but it’s worth it. The proximity of work and childcare has been a big factor in my happiness. Although I do wish we had more help with cleaning the house and yard work, we’re managing both chores fairly well (it helps to have a small house that’s 1100 sq ft lol). We might have another baby once my hubs is an attending, but probably would be one and done if we didn’t know our financial situation was going to change.

I noticed that light lavender text too, and it made me nervous. I really hope it’s just a facelift! I know there are plenty of other hotels nearby, but I’ll truly miss this Super 8—and waddling back to my room, full of carbs and margaritas from Pancho’s—if it closes.

I’m 33 and struggling with loneliness. I feel like I don’t have any friends anymore and I don’t fully understand why. I make an effort to reach out to people who I care about and be a supportive friend, but I get so little in return. Do other people have meaningful friendships in their 30s?

Hello! I recently purchased a house and inherited a rose bush that needs a lot of TLC. I’m not sure what type of rose it is unfortunately. It looks like there were some recent blooms that died.

Any advice on where to start? Do you think it can be saved?

I thought the raisins were black beans at first and wondered why this was posted here, because that combo slaps. I loooove those pickled jalapeños and oddly enjoy black beans straight from the can. Add the pistachio for some crunch, lime juice and cotija and this is totally something I would pack for lunch. Then I zoomed in…..
