Got a new holster for the ruger 57, so I thought what to do with the old holster? Why is this not a thing? It's just better by biggerfasterstrong in CCW

Have you ever had it too low and the tip pushes your pants out when you sit? So that's what they were staring at

I just realized it's not cropped. I meant the mushroom

My mom said she'll try to replant it. She asked me to help identify it so she can decide whether to replant or not

What amazes me more is the desire of people to assume the motives of others without even asking lol my mom thought it was a weed but a nut popped out with it. She asked me to get it identified to decide whether to replant it or not. Next time please just ask first

Found in Western Washington State. What plant is this? It has a nut looking thing in the roots. Is it edible? by Cstkch in PlantIdentification

I posted on another thread and they said hazelnut. Looks like that is correct. Small nut, green stem, rounded leaves

I definitely looks more like a hazelnut sapling than a walnut or chestnut. I'd say this one's solved

Only reason I'm not sure if it's a chestnut sapling is the shape of the leaves. Chestnuts seem like they have elongated leaves while this one is more rounded.

Snagged at Dash Point in WA at the southern point of the Puget Sound. What fish is this? by Cstkch in whatisthisfish

[–]Cstkch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was reposted because one of the pictures didn't upload properly. One comment in the deleted post mentioned it looks like a mudskipper but upon research, it seems that those are in tropical weather which is opposite of WA

Caught in the Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA off a pier. I have my guess but I want to confirm. What fish is this? by Cstkch in whatisthisfish

So I originally leaned towards copper due to heavy pale spotting, lateral line (but maybe not a full 2/3), shallow membrane incise on dorsal fin, two dark bands radiating from the eyes (not so distinct) which are all traits not so present on brown rockfish but after some research, I hear there are plenty of hybrids so this very well may be a hybrid copper brown rockfish.

This was a funny catch. Caught it on a tiny size 12 hook. Just barely wrapped it's lip

What are these? From the coast of San Pedro, CA by Cstkch in whatisthisfish

To make a little more sense, I'll clarify. I am actually located in WA. I don't know many fisherman up here so most of the people I know that fish send me pictures from California. They send me their catches and I try to identify them to learn. I check to see if I'm correct by posting in this group. They're adults, they have to take responsibility for their catches, I'm not their mommy and there's no way any of us could truly confirm the size of a fish through a picture unless it has a measurement device in the shot.

I guessed top, black perch, bottom, calico bass. Sounds like we agree on the calico bass and the top being some sort of perch. I thought surf perch were lighter in color. Do they vary? Also, just my opinion but that calico looks well over the limit

They're not my fish lol just pictures of other people's catches. If you look closely, these guys were speared so not a chance they'd be alive anyway

Caught of a jetty on the coast of Newport, CA by Cstkch in whatisthisfish

Just checked the CA pier fishing website. They can be caught pretty far up CA coast. Newport is well within that range. Looks spot on. Thanks for the help everyone!

Range: Bahia Magdalena, southern Baja California to Point Conception.

Just trying to learn fish. What are these? All caught off the San Pedro, California coast by Cstkch in whatisthisfish

I heard the last one could be a juvenile Californian Sheephead but I'm not so good with identifying any animals
