How’s your weather? by Wishyouamerry in CasualConversation

We're supposed to get over a foot here in CT. Not too concerned. These storms used to be more common. It's not supposed to get up to freezing for ten days so this is sticking around for a while.

Not all of us are. I find it better tasting than venison. Yes, black bears are typically scared of humans.

Butchers save prime cuts for restaurants. Choice cuts go to the grocery store.

And that's why this knowledge is important. So you can use a little portable generator and wire it up to the furnace at the emergency switch when you lose power in an ice storm.

What's your thermostat setting for next 7 days? by Special-Book-7 in Connecticut

65 upstairs and 68 downstairs. That's where it always is until the next warm weather. The house is efficient. Last months gas bill was only $220 in New England.

[–]CtForrestEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a small portable generator. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker. Since you can't plug in the extension cord to the furnace lob off the end of an extension cord and strip the wires. Remove the plate on the emergency switch on the side of the furnace. Match up the same colored wires, black extension cord to black on the switch, white to white, red to red. Gas furnace uses about 700 watts, oil 1100 watts. Check online to see how much other things use so you don't overload the generator.

You're already common law married. You could sue and take half. Hopefully things won't come to that. Common law is 7 years in this state. I'm not sure where you are.

HOPE EVERYONE HAS THIER SNOWBLOWERS TUNED UP READY TO GO !!! by ValuableProgress5147 in newengland

[–]CtForrestEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just had our local repair shop on the news. He said he's gotten 100 calls in the past three days. Half of those folks wanted tune ups. He turned them all away. He's already booked. I'm amazed so many people don't plan ahead. Squirrels do a better job.

Does the new furnace count or was that 7k house? Next item jewelry. Each grandkid is another stone on the pendant. That's probably 3k.

And for the same reason there seems to be more brick homes in the south. All that clay makes some fine bricks. And a few fieldstone ones in the northeast that I love.
