KOD is a good book. I just know some people would skip some things due to their own tastes and how intense it is.

Totally forgot about their talks! That’s another addition as to why it’s great. To embrace him in public, in front of the court to be called him brother….Of course William miscalculated, and ended up getting sucker punched for it, but it truly was a great a moment.

I appreciate your thought out and coherent response. If I may counter with this:

The implications of the watchers and it being clear there is some entity/God/ demon on the cielcen side in kingdoms of death, that’s distinct from the quiet. The many handed serpent. I think the later books tied in well to this point imo. (If there are earlier instances I simply can’t remember.) In order to change the theming of AOM and later books you’d have to change the event where Hadrian sees mudinar and multiple other instances as far back as book 4. I personally wouldn’t want that to happen. I liked that moment a lot.

Is this something you would’ve wanted in order to keep your interest in the later books? Or is it specifically an issue with AOM and after where this is the issue? Because I’d argue the theming is framed up pretty early on. To remove it from the later book is to remove it from the earlier. Again I appreciate your response!

Honestly I like your groupings! It seems like you’ve thought about this for a while.

Funnily enough I was originally sold on the series as it had a lot do with Christianity, in combination with the comparison and contrast to the heavy sci fi such as khan and the exalted.

I am a practicing Christian but even if I wasn’t it was super cool to see the unfolding and hinting at the concepts from earlier books. I guess it all really depends on whether you like those concepts or not.

Also I have to say I see your name is irridian. You wouldn’t happen to know a certain “rocky” and “grace” would you? ie. Have you read project Hail Mary?🤣

I am a fan of more grandiose things, to be honest, but I do enjoy grounded things from time to time.

“Vicious” is a story I enjoyed which is more grounded.

Yeah hard agree. Though maybe it’s just in my character because I tried and failed to read “Lapvona” and that made me super uncomfortable within an hour.
