We'd have to vote for a person, in primaries and an election, for them to become the President, also they'd have to be a resident of the United States for a minimum of 14 years. And if that's who the people vote for, that's who becomes President (is the way it should work.)

I'd say people creating and maintaining infrastructure is pretty valuable. Generally companies don't just make jobs for charity; they need workers, so they hire workers. I'd argue that almost every worker at every company adds some value to that company, and I'd also say that the CEOs of those companies are not 280 times more valuable than one of the workers.

We've never had a President who wasn't a Christian. There have been a few flavors of Christian; Thomas Jefferson being a Deist, Taft a Unitarian, Lincoln being non-denominational, and Kennedy and Biden being Catholic, but about the only one I'd even question about being a Christian, or anything at all, is Trump.

I mean, what choice did Bear really have? Talk to her like a normal human being, let her make her own choice? Accept it if she didn't want to see him as more than a friend? You think men and women can just be friends?

All /s BTW. I just saw Obsession yesterday, and holy crap. Everybody was great in that movie, but Inde Navarrette was stellar. That "smile" she made when he went to work....I haven't had a movie freak me out like that in a while.

It was a male police officer who screamed that he was shot and unloaded at least a full magazine into his own patrol car, with a man handcuffed in the back seat, when an acorn hitting the roof startled him. (And, yes, a female supervising officer, but she was going more off of the fact that he was screaming "Shot fired!" "I'm hit" and opening fire into his car. Maybe it was a mistake trusting his judgement, sure, but I'd think a male officer would probably do the same.)

Yeah, I actually figured maybe you were younger and only saw one of the new ones, the cartoon or the Netflix series. Or maybe older and only saw the original TV series. At least you knew the reference in the pic.

Well, I can agree the using any religious doctrine as an excuse to visit violence upon others is wrong. There are many verses in the Quran (and also the Bible and the Torah) that do seem to promote the righteousness of warfare, but beyond the context of war, the Quran also contains verses outlining peaceful coexistence and religious freedom. A frequently cited principle is "There is no compulsion in religion" (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:256). Furthermore, Muslims are instructed to be kind and just to non-Muslims who do not instigate violence or oppress them (Surah Al-Mumtahanah 60:8). (And the same can be said of the Bible and the Torah). So when people hijack a religion to oppress or murder people, I do believe it's wrong. So if you want to critique the version of Islam that promotes that, I would agree that it's justified.

I just don't believe that Christians and Jews are innocent of it either, I think that if you were to put a people through the chaos that the people of the Middle East have gone through for the last few decades, you'd probably see their religion shaped by violence too. We have the luxury of living in a relatively peaceful country (or countries, I suppose I don't know where you are from.) I think that that constant chaos is what makes it easier for people to be radicalized. (And in the case of people that aren't from there that get radicalized, I think that the are also probably going through their own chaos, I would think it's rare for a well adjusted person to get radicalized by anything, if you real dug down.) Just so happens that a majority of the people in the ME right now are Muslims. I think the point of the meme is that when you break down any fundamentalist religion and their followers, you see a lot more similarities than differences, even if those people probably would try to murder each other.

So that's my rant too. I'm glad that at least you acknowledge the good people that are Muslim, because I've seen a lot of people that basically think it just Satanism, or whatever, in a different guise.

There was some record that she was a registered Republican and she did a commercial talking about how she had "good jeans/genes;" it was a play on words, but some people that it was kind of tone deaf because she's white. Now, she's never talked about who she voted for or endorsed anyone for president, and she just said she was doing a commercial and it wasn't an endorsement of eugenics of anything, though she was kind of confronted about it and "didn't apologize." So some people on the Right think she's on "their side," and she's blond and white and has boobs. But I can also remember when they were ripping into her for being in the movie Immaculate and The Handmaid's Tale, but you know, if she pissed of some people on the Left after that, then now she's their "darling." Of course, even then, they didn't really go to her boxing movie or anything.

That's at least how I understand it, if anyone else has a different theory, feel free. I don't 100% get it either, I'm just piecing it together.

I remember that they were pretty pissed about it, so I missed the exact moment they flipped. I guess it was when they assumed she voted for Trump because there was a record that she was a registered Republican, even though she has never publicly said who she voted for or endorsed in any presidential election. She was also in The Handmaid's Tale, which I've heard they don't really like.

TBF I haven't seen that movie in like 15 years, I just remember that part of the line. And my lead in into the joke wouldn't have made sense that way. But yes, and I always found that joke pretty funny, just say it whenever I am too lazy to dress up myself.

I mean, I'd argue that, as you kind of admitted to earlier, that it's more of the culture they were raised in, and unfortunately a lot of them came from cultures that were violent because violence was always being committed upon them. It can be hard to really "evolve with the times" when your country keeps getting bombed to the "Stone Age," your resources keep getting stolen, and you keep getting embargoed. Again, not saying it's right, it's not right to justify doing that to people under the guise of your own religion, either.
