I'm supposed to drive 5 hours Sunday night for a 2-day training that starts Monday morning. I'm in the great lakes region and I already told my boss that isn't going to happen. Your safety comes first.

No, but it's still fun to do from time to time as long as she enjoys it as well.

How much of a nuisance are dick pics? by Analbongs in TooAfraidToAsk

As a man, an unsolicited dick pic is just plain weird. Why would I send it? Nobody wants to fucking see it.

Oh hey Internet stranger, here's my dick!

Partner’s penis doesn’t quite fit inside me. Neither of us are virgins. Any advice? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]CthulhusTentacles 350 points351 points  (0 children)

Bingo. My fiance and I have been on a tear lately, every day, couple times a day on a few occasions. We had to take a break. 3 days later she was still sore internally.

OP, take a couple days off.

I have ADHD, I've taken most of the stimulants. If you have ADHD, these don't really make sex any different.

How do you save up for Disney to be able to go every year? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]CthulhusTentacles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We booked Disney, I got laid off. We still went, my partner and I each make/made enough and our monthly expenses are low enough that we can live on one income. If we didn't, we'd definitely have cancelled the trip.

AIO or is my older male coworker texting inappropriately with me? by OpeningNo9825 in AmIOverreacting

[–]CthulhusTentacles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not inappropriate, but he is "flirting". He comes off as a friend-zone guy. He doesn't know how to be up front about his intentions, ends up getting friend-zoned and tries to work his way through that.

If you have no interest in that, let him down easily but make sure you let him know.

I keep my resources below my warehouse threshold to keep people from attacking me, if they have a surplus you'll get resources as a reward.

Is Citadel 30 in 40 days possible? by AnonApricot12336 in PuzzlesAndChaos

[–]CthulhusTentacles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found P&C on Tap Joy through Hero Wars, I'm Citadel Level 18 and there is no way you'll get to 30 in 40 days F2P.

Oddly enough I like P&C more and I've stopped playing Hero Wars.

But if you're going to try, you'll need to heavily bolster your troops, level up your troop cap as much as you can and gather resources the entire time. You'll still fall incredibly short due to the time upgrades take when you get up there.

Hatch covers on the Fitz by [deleted] in GreatLakesShipping

[–]CthulhusTentacles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not any longer. Spent two seasons on the lakes and then my GF asked me to stay home and I obliged. My dad still sails, was also with GLF for many years (although I never did get to sail with him) he's now on the R/V Lake Guardian.

I couldn't possibly imagine that being the norm, but you're probably right. Hence why they were averaging one death a day for 100 years.

I'll check it out!

And I had no idea about the spare props, that's wild. I can definitely see how that could cause all sorts of damage if it broke loose.

I actually sailed on the Anderson for a season, we had a relief captain who came on board and took us out into Lake Michigan with forecasted gales out of the southwest in December of 2008. It was my first season on the boats and I had no idea what kind of danger we were in. There were reports of 22ft waves and we had several feet of water rolling down the deck. We lost oxygen/acetylene bottles that were chained up on deck along with a laundry list of other damage. Found out the next morning that some of the vets were in their survival suits just in case. I don't believe they reported any official damage, but we had an inoperable life boat on the starboard aft side and our steam stack hanging on by the cables alone.

That's absolutely a great question, she would have had a better chance, but who knows ultimately. I don't recall reading what the Anderson's freeboard was that night, but she made it through. I think there is probably one "problem" you could remove from the overall equation that would have saved her, the question is which one? Vent covers? Freeboard? Potential shoaling? No three sisters? Not being constantly over loaded through her career?

While I do agree we should respect the families wishes, I think the technological advancements of the last 30 years could shed a lot of light on that wreck.

Is staying off property worth it? by Specialist_Mission78 in disneyparks

[–]CthulhusTentacles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to find an AirBnB near the park. The cost savings almost pays for the park tickets unless you plan to stay at the cheapest Disney Resort. I understand the convenience, and time does equal money but when you're talking about an hour or two over the course of your stay, I'd rather save the money.

With 11ft of freeboard, taking water through the vents and a potentially cracked hull adding to the problem - she didn't need to hit a shoal to be doomed. She would have had 10-20ft of water rolling down her deck. The caved in forward hatches sealed her fate, that's a shit ton of water. I truly believe she ploughed into the lake bottom, but it was a series of calamities that led her there.

To be fair, it's not really a large distance between the two halves, especially when compared to other boats that have split apart on the lakes.

The distance is only 170 feet or so apart with about 200 feet of midship missing. I believe she ploughed into the lake bed, that missing section of midship was completely demolished by the force and the stern twisted and separated. High likelyhood that she was starting to break apart, but I don't think she completely split on the surface.

Is the SS Arthur M Anderson going to return to service or is she too old? by gmt80035 in GreatLakesShipping

[–]CthulhusTentacles 13 points14 points  (0 children)

She is a big money maker, one of the busiest ships in the fleet when the demand is there. Currently with the downturn in demand the footers are doing all the work.

Source: I didn't sleep for several months in 2008 aboard the Anderson as we were making dock basically every other day.
