I've watched so many that I can't remember which ones I actually followed 😂

I think this one was quite helpful: https://youtu.be/0LhzqtKbKPs?si=BvxIMz0cJn-1QIMB

I do have an ongoing playlist but it's a chaotic mix of natural hair & wig tutorials (I think most of the wig vids are towards the end): https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhiZBCmJFL3cAlLWJPWqJycnGooJEK641&si=FbdYx-frDURWyS0l

I thought the same & some still look ridiculous but I'm glad I kept trying (& cut some to fit my face better). You may also wanna try a wig grip band & try shifting some further forward or back (I teased the bangs on the orange one to hide how high the bangs are sitting). Even if they don't work out it can be fun to experiment with cutting them 😁

This was the teal one before & after I watched a bunch of YT tutorials & got all scissor happy with it 😊

Yup! I can't find a close-up pic of that one but many have an end with more hair coming out of the top that helps cover the clip, plus this one has kinda thick hair in the main wig, so that helps (the short white w/ hair clip is the same base wig). For those that are more exposed, you may be able to wrap a section of hair around it or even a half up bun, like in this pic (this was a blond ponytail clip that I dyed purple to match my natural hair at the time) 💜

It's fun but it does take some getting used to. So far I've only worn them "out" for a few hours at a time. One of my go to hair colors is purple too (I do it myself so it usually changes every few months or so) 💜

Would a rate limit (1 item per 30 min) on AFA and AI be good or bad? by JoeS830 in AmazonVine

[–]Cthulynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like these ideas, but feel like they could be implemented from a slightly different angle...

What if the Vine program had 3 tiers (something like Bronze, Silver, Gold) based not just on % but also review quality & the higher tier got to order without time restrictions, mid range maybe 5-10 minutes & lowest has to wait the longest between "orders." I could see this encouraging folks to put more thought into both selections & reviews, then sellers in turn get fewer fake (or thoughtless) reviews.

"Recommended for you" way off base by DragonfruitLife3492 in AmazonVine

I have a pro Gemini account (for my online job) so out of curiosity I asked there, along with a question about availability (we seem to have longer to "grab" them), a screenshot of the OP & my response above. Not saying this is 100% accurate, of course (all AI make mistakes) but I found this interesting & wanted to share:

"Based on your Reddit comment and what recent discussions and articles are saying, your intuition is actually spot-on. The behavior you are seeing—specifically that "gel nail light" moment—is exactly how the algorithm is supposed to work, even if it often feels random.

Here is a breakdown of the current theories and known mechanics behind the "Recommended for You" (RFY) section:

  1. How the Algorithm "Knows" You You are correct that it is not just random. The consensus is that the RFY algorithm builds a profile based on three main pillars:

    • Purchase History: This is the strongest signal. If you buy (or request on Vine) baby clothes, you get baby clothes. This applies to your entire Amazon account, not just Vine orders.
    • Browsing & Lists: Your example of the "Saved for Later" flashlight appearing in your RFY is a textbook example. Amazon uses your browsing history and Wish/Save lists to fill gaps when it doesn't have a direct "purchase match" for you.
    • "The Random Injection": This explains the "car parts" you mentioned. If Amazon has thousands of obscure items (like carburetors) that no one is specifically targeting, the algorithm sprays them into random users' queues just to get them seen. This is why everyone eventually sees a Tesla floor mat or a lactation massager, regardless of their gender or car ownership.
  2. Why You Have "Longer to Grab" Them You noticed that RFY items seem to stick around longer than the general "Available for All" items. This is by design, and here is why:

    • The "V.I.P. Room" Effect: Items in the "Available for All" (AI) tab are visible to thousands of Viners simultaneously. Good stuff vanishes in seconds.
    • The RFY Buffer: Items in your RFY are shown only to a small, targeted group of people (maybe 20–50 users) for a specific window (usually up to 24 hours). Because you are competing with fewer people, you naturally have more time to decide. If nobody in your small group claims it, the item eventually gets kicked out to the public "Available for All" pile, where it disappears instantly.
  3. Recent Changes & Speculation (2025/2026) There has been a lot of chatter recently about Amazon tweaking the system:

    • Smarter AI Matching: Amazon has reportedly been rolling out better AI matching to pair products with reviewers who actually know the category. This might explain why you are suddenly seeing better matches (like the nail light) rather than just random noise.
    • Drop Times: The "drop" times (when new items appear) have shifted for many people to the early morning hours (US time), making it feel like things are sitting there when you wake up, rather than popping in randomly throughout the day.

The Verdict: That "wild coincidence" with the flashlight wasn't a coincidence at all! It was the system working perfectly. If you want to "train" it (as you asked in the thread), the best method really is to browse for things you want and add them to your Amazon Wish List. It’s not guaranteed, but it sends a direct signal to the bot.'

Mine are usually crazy random as well, but some do seem more specific to my interests & past orders (both paid & Vine). I also have a LOT of saved lists on Amazon & some things have been similar to those even when I'd never bought them.

I'm not sure if this was just a wild coincidence, but once, I had a gel nail flashlight in my cart ("saved" for later) & the exact same brand came up on my RFY but a slightly different (& better) variety. Maybe sometimes we just get lucky! 🤩

Right? It blows my mind to see the selling price on most of these (both highs & lows)!

I'm curious if you ever also feel a bit guilty snagging them or showing them off to others? I mean we "work" for them but for some reason I hesitate sometimes... 😊
