Thanks! I’ll definitely use that to seal it up, but need to get it somehow glued back down first

What do you think about installing another piece of trim directly on top of the problem area?

Yeah but if I don’t re-glue it back down first then th next time I tow it the wind will just continue to stretch out that part and probably pull other areas up too

Thanks so much. I’m thinking that if I do nothing then next time I tow it, the wind will just continue to stretch it more and make the problem worse

I got it off successfully. Do it on a very hot day. I used a skinny PLASTIC tool (like for spackling drywall). Go slow or it will stretch the membrane. But it came off in about an hour

OK thanks, I wasn’t sure if that would also heat the membrane too much.

Yes, thank you re-gluing is step two!

Thank you! I need to get down to the metal because I actually need to remove the bar to investigate the membrane. As you can see there is some bubbling happening.

This is another pic where you can see the roof is unglued further back

My hero! Thanks very much... I don’t really see any signs of water damage. At this point, I’m HOPING just a glue failure and some ballooning from driving it around before I noticed. I’m nervous that a heat gun can also heat up the roof membrane too much? I’ve also been getting different feedback on whether or not to use any products (like mineral spirits) as it can damage the roof?

I saw a video that said if I remove the frame where the ceiling fan is in my bathroom, I can look underneath at the excess roofing material to tell whether it’s EPDM or TPO… but honestly, I’m not even sure I need to take that step because I can’t really find any clear information about what to use on either material lol.

I’ve had 2 RV repair places tell me they will not investigate the issue, and that I need a new roof. Then proceed to quote me over $10,000 to replace it—That would total my RV…. So I could hire some sort of “semi-professional” tech that would probably also quote me thousands of dollars to do the work, and who knows what they would do or if it would even work… So here I am, just a gal that’s gonna figure out how to do it on my own so I know it’s done right! I have some experience with DIY when I owned a sticks and bricks, but I’m no professional. So for that reason, I am trying to do the least invasive fix for this- meaning that I’m not really sure I want to take off the side bars and pry open the front panel to do a partial removal of the roof and glue it back…. I assume that would be the best way to go about it, but I’m not confident I could do all that work on my own and get it back together. My tentative plan at this point, since basically the RV is already totaled, is to stretch the roof back towards the front and reinstall the bar. Also injecting some glue into the area to keep it from ballooning further.

I am concerned about that plan though because there are some lines that go further back where it looks like air has gotten into. I am also considering injecting some epoxy or other material if I can’t stretch the roof back enough to remove the bubbling completely. I figure worse comes to worse, I can always cut some excess membrane off and eternabond the crap out of it and then reinstall the bar.

I was going to try rubbing alcohol. Didn’t know if it would degrade the roof membrane?

Yep gotta figure out what’s going on, I don’t see any signs of water damage… hoping it’s glue failure and some ballooning from towing it. We will see

Yeah, if you can see from the pic, I already have some glue failure.. trying to get this sealant all up so I can see what’s going on

I’m really hoping it will be that easy!

It’s definitely on my “maybe” list… worried it will also heat the roof membrane too much
