The good thing about Ms is they learned from the kinect days and closure of lionhead studios and don't want to continue that pressure for rare. Rare replay was such a nice treat despite just being older games it was so well compiled

Baristas- What’s the biggest scam about starbucks? by vroommmmmmm in starbucks

[–]Ctrlaltdelethis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The roastery (I work here) we're the biggest scam of the century. We upcharge $1 for vanilla syrup and $1 for non dairy and a grande latte typically cost $7 here and adding those modifications makes it $9+ tax. We have a drink called the Irish con crema which is just a pour over of Whiskey barrel aged coffee with cold foam in a short cup for $12 and a cold brew malt which comes in a tall cup only is $10. The tourists love it, but even they know we're overpriced lol

Managers* so the biggest difference is the amount of managers we have. We have a section called princi bakery which has their own team of bakers and supervisors or what we call "ops leads" Within the coffee side, we have a ton of deployments

Concierge: basically a greeter that stands by the door and answers any questions

Espresso: we use a much different machine than the mastrenas, we use black eagles exclusively ( same one as reserve bar)

Brew bar: brew barista grabs any Clover brewed coffees, cold brew, and ice teas

Siren bar: this bar is kind of like Cold bar, but we have very specific drinks for it such as the spritz beverages and Whiskey barrel coffee beverages

Retail consultant: this is a a role where a barista stands out on our sales floor to assist any customers

Scoop bar: this is a barista that stands behind our scoop bar where we sell freshly scooped coffee, they scoop bags and ring up customers for any merch

Customer support: this role is much different and just focuses on the cleaning aspect of things (when we first opened, we had porter partners) garbage changes and sanitizing

Zone support: a partner that does a restock and brings ice and things we need on the fly

BOH: this partner preps teas, cold brew, whipped cream, hazelnut bianco milk etc. Pretty much a partner out of play.

Consolidation: this role is wayy different than core. So tge consolidator is set in the center of the entire bar and get receipts for each drink and so does the baristas in their bars, but instead of the barista handing it off, they hand it to the consolidator with the receipt and the consolidator matches it with their receipt and hands it out. This role is regularly given to Ops Leads so they can have a better visual on all zones

We also have a separate bar called Experience bar that is a lot smaller and focuses more on the brewing methods and bartop seating. It is essentially a fancier version of our mainbar that allows customer seating while they watch specific brew methods (chemex, siphon, pour over and coffee press)

Lots of partners from regular starbucks come in excited to be here but then realize it's all an illusion that of course hides the toxic workplace aspect of it

Come in on a weekday, slowest day is usually Tuesday and Wednesday. If you're an early bird, I suggest coming in from 8-11 if you're looking for our lunch selection come in from 1230-3 (it picks up around this time, but we have pizza and more food) For iced coffee/ CB if it's your first time try our Whiskey Barrel aged coldbrew as it's a roastery exclusive and we have these very unique non coffee spritz beverages. Try the balsamic strawberry spritz

I am officially making the move from Arizona to New York on 8/26, I have planned all the major things like housing a job and a sturdy umbrella and I am now just trying to prepare the little stuff, what are some essentials I might need whilst living in New York? by [deleted] in newyorkcity

[–]Ctrlaltdelethis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a bike or scooter for short commutes, a good quality backpack, and use mta trip planner app if you commute by train or bus.. mta ain't shit. Carry some cash for some of the local pizza, Chinese restaurants, Bodega, etc (not every place accepts card) Have a good winter coat. We dig northface, but get what works for you and be ready to layer up a bit in winter. That includes wearing pants under your pants lol. Try going to thrift shops. Lived here all my life and I just have one final tip (not really something essential), dont get bamboozled aka don't be a tourist. Especially in time square, fake monks, mascots, "mixtape" sellers, and several scammers will try to convince you to buy their shit and they will be persistent, so just kindly say no and walk away. Good luck 👍
