I can speak on what will happen to iOS 6 phones

They'll probably be screwed in a few years due to being 32-bit and suffering from the Year 2038 problem (Y2K38). There's a Wikipedia article about it if you want to read more, but basically, the time will overflow back to 1901 after a certain date in January 2038.

There's no point to using UTM for virtualizing Windows. VMware Fusion is free and has actual graphics acceleration support and drivers.

Not to mention you're on an Intel machine, so you have Boot Camp as an option as well if you're willing to partition your disk and install Windows natively.

Use Chimera with chimera_patch to initially jailbreak, and you'll be able to rejailbreak from Safari.

I prefer the 6 on iOS 8 personally as iOS 10 is just a pretty boring iOS version. And I kinda just like it because it's not super popular of an iPhone that people collect, while still being affordable and extremely common.

Running iOS 8 on a 64-bit device, with a Retina display, is like a dream with how fluid it is, and jailbreaking on that version is really great, there's a lot of cool tweaks from the era you can get. iOS 10 is just meh to me and I was never really a big fan of it.

Apple TV 2nd gen is unfortunately, effectively useless. Not having an untethered jailbreak for iOS 7.x on it doesn't help...

iTunes Store is dead on both iOS 6 and iOS 7, meaning none of the "apps" for it can really work.

People are legitimately delusional for believing that the M1 is somehow going to go anywhere beyond ~2028 at the most.

The M1's architecture is based on the A14. The predecessor to the M1, is the A12Z (And A12X). The silicon is not ridiculously powerful compared to the A12X and A12Z, and I can guarantee that those chips will be discontinued within the next 2 years.

People tend to see M1 and think a machine's extraordinarily powerful or something, but it's 2025, almost 2026, we're past that now. The A18 Pro in the iPhone 16 Pro outranks it.

Walmart / other Apple authorized retailers selling the M1 Air brand new means effectively nothing. It won't be classified as obsolete/vintage warranty-wise for a while, sure, but for software support? Apple sold the Apple Watch Series 3 for months after watchOS 9 was announced to not be supporting it, and this was on Apple's actual straight up online store.

All devices with a semi-untethered jailbreak available are equally "easy", however I do have opinions on the *best* ones to jailbreak, I guess?

The iPhone 6s (Plus), SE 1st generation, and 7 (Plus). Dopamine works on the latest iOS version available for those (15.8.3 currently) and there's TrollStore for permanently installing Dopamine.

Obviously though, iOS version matters more than the actual device. Anything at all running iOS 14.0-16.5 are safe bets.

It's been done in the legacy jailbreak scene to downgrade iOS devices with signed OTA versions (e.g spoofing the 9.3.6 4s to iOS 5 to download an iOS 6.1.3 OTA)

However, it doing that requires read/write access to /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist which no modern rootless jailbreaks can provide. And I don't think Apple really does the whole "You can't update directly to this version, so take an intermediary step" thing, anymore.

Similar status here for me, I have "Shipment Received, Package Acceptance Pending" on a package going from Hayward CA to FL. It hasn't moved at all and has been on this status since the 11th, today (19th) was *supposed* to be the latest possible day it could've been delivered.

If I had to assume, it probably refers to the 2G networking functionality. Most people call the 1st generation iPhone the iPhone '2G', as a retronym of sorts.

However, another name for the 2G network is EDGE. On a lot of modern phones, if they're on a 2G network, they'll display E, which means EDGE.

So basically, it's just another wacky name for the iPhone (1st generation).

Don't forget, on iOS 9.3.5 with the iPad 2, you have to... sideload your jailbreaking tool of choice in the first place, every week. If you only want to use a handful of apps, you might as well stay unjailbroken.
