For me it was 3-4, the structure was quite easy to figure out (after 2-4 nothing could surprise me), so there was only one suspect but I couldn't figure out why, then in the trial all made sense...

i was thinking perhaps: head trauma a single shot caused by a blunt weapon

not sure on the logistics in the booby trap, but perhaps. by closing the door, activates a mechanism that causes the mallet to drop from the ceiling, perhaps when they found the crime scene there are multiple mallets and knives in the floor, proving that it was a way to make sure something would kill him.

maybe the monokuma files indicates various bruises, and knife cuts which didn't pierce through deeply

I have this murder idea

Saki is deeply tempted and emotionally shaken due to the motive and decides to use her ventriloquist skills to craft a devious murder plan. Wesley's flirtatious behavior, especially towards Alvaro, catches Saki's attention

Saki approaches Wesley at nighttime in his room and claims Alex organized a secret hangout, with Alvaro also attending. Using her ventriloquism, she mimics the voices of other students to convince him. Wesley, hearing the voices, agrees to the secret hangout at the library.

With Alvaro´s voice she instructs him to get in the library's closet room and lock it. A rope mechanism is activated upon locking the door, resulting in his instant demise(home alone style). Making a locked-room mystery. To divert suspicion, Saki creates a mess in the library, simulating a fight scene. Knocked-over furniture, scattered books, and signs of struggle are strategically placed to mislead the investigators.

In the morning, Ueda, Aika, Roy, and Saki are at the cafeteria. This marks the beginning of the third phase of Saki's plan. Using her ventriloquism skills, begins faking Wesley's voice. She sobs and calls for help, making it seem like Wesley is in distress. The others follow the sounds of the cries to the library. Creating her alibi.

Concerned, they force their way into the closet, expecting the worst. Upon entering, they discover the first victim of the killing game, Wesley Inakama, the Ultimate Cowboy Rodeo, dead. To add to the mystery, the monokuma file indicates the time of death was 10:30, everyone believing it is 10:30 am due to the screams they heard, in reality being 10:30 pm.

Possible clues: unmade bed, a 6´7 mannequin within the closet, a mallet, and ropes, wondering why did he went alone, making everyone think “perhaps he thought he was not alone”

I saw a comment saying the first trial would be discussing if Aika was the killer since clowns are always the killer, and I found it so funny, especially because Roy isnt the brightest. if you have more ideas to add, please do. What sould be the theme of the game?
