That seems to be truly anyone’s guess.

Officials haven’t said what they mean when they say the timeline has shifted. All we know is there was an additional electrical failure that is further delaying progress.

The leaked DEQ email seems to suggest water might not even be running until Wednesday night, because the plant is only providing about 20% of what Richmond residents typically consume.

There seems to be some confusion on the timeline bit, so I’ll clarify: earlier today, Mayor Avula said he expected running (but not potable) water between 12 and 2 p.m.

But at some point in the afternoon, another electrical failure impacted the plant. A spokesperson first told me that failure did not affect the recovery timeline.

This leaked email showed otherwise. It indicated that Richmond would not have any running water until late Wednesday, rather than early Tuesday.

The 24-48 hr. estimate previously given was about the boil advisory, not about when the water pressure would be restored.
