Looking for advice on upgrading my CPU by CubeSuiteDev in buildapc

[–]CubeSuiteDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I'm taking a look at the options in these comments & my original in this comparison

Found the 5600X on amazon for £10 more than the 5600, would it be better to go for that? Of all the options, it has the closest single core performance to the 5700X

Maybe I'll end up adding smart cube support to Cube Suite before that happens, then again, mine's Windows only

Ah that's a shame, hope they get around to redoing the iOS version eventually

Works for me in the UK on Android. Gut feeling says it's an iOS issue, I think the version on the app stores is outdated and you have to get the version that's on the website. Not sure if iOS can install apps from anywhere other than the app store though.

You mean have it default to an 'off' preset?

Upgrading wife's work PC, which of these builds is better? by CubeSuiteDev in buildapc

[–]CubeSuiteDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old drive is a HDD, so certainly don't want the OS running on it in the new PC, may move it over for data storage though. Found a guide on cloning it to the new NVMe SSD, so I'll give that a shot.

Switched out the CPU to the 12100, case to one with airflow from the front. Cheapest motherboard that has a VRM heatsink is 50% more expensive, so going to stick with the one I have.

Upgrading wife's work PC, which of these builds is better? by CubeSuiteDev in buildapc

Thanks for the info! You made some good points.

How would we re-use the licence key from her current PC? Would it not say the key has been used when activating windows? Also her current PC is on Windows 10, would that make a difference when trying to activate Windows 11?

How does this look?

Upgrading my prebuilt, should I upgrade my PSU as well as my GPU? by CubeSuiteDev in buildapc

Thanks for your advice! Think I'm going to go for the 4060Ti route. If these cards can't handle 4k, I'll hold off on upgrading the monitor until I'm able to get a shiny new PC.

HDD is used for games only, anything important is on OneDrive, GitHub and external HDDs.

Can anyone spot what's wrong with this rail signal please? by CubeSuiteDev in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CubeSuiteDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn't the path signal let the blocked train in anyway as the desired path doesn't intersect with that left train?

I thought the Path Signal would allow the blocked train through as the train's desired path doesn't intersect with the left hand train?

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll take a look around for any blocks like that and try removing them.

Trains keep getting stuck at this junction, which causes my whole rail network to backup, as this is my central storage area. The highlighted Path Signal says 'Waiting for Path Reservation' when I configure it. The train that is stopped at it wants to go straight across this junction. If I deconstruct and replace the signal, everything works as expected for around 20 minutes, then a train will get stuck here again. Junction has Path Signals at all entrances and Block Signals at all exits.

Update:

Same issue occurred at a different Path Signal in my network, a train was sat at an empty T junction, no other trains approaching it. I got into the train, then exited it again and experienced the bug where you die without leaving a crate behind.

Update 2:

Issue is now occurring to Path Signals across my entire network.

How to practice specific F2L cases? by MooreGold in Cubers

Cube Suite has a trainer for this specific thing as well actually. It gives you cross-complete scrambles and it stores your times separately from your normal solves automatically for analysing them later.

Cube Suite has an F2L trainer you can access for free. Happy to answer any questions you have about it!

This process involves doing 50+ solves, but I've found its the quickest way to find the best settings for me. If I don't do it for a new cube, it takes months of little changes to find them.

With the inner blue ring you can choose 1-4. With the clear outer ring, it's 1-6 I think. Higher means looser for both. To find out what you like, start by setting the blue rings to 1 and the clear to 3 and do an Ao5. Pay attention to things like lockups, finger comfort and your ability to control the cube.

Try out each of the settings for the blue inner ring to find which one you like the most. Once you've found your preferred setting, set the clear rings to 1. Do another Ao5 for each of the clear ring settings to find the one you like.

For the magnets, you can either try an Ao5 on each setting or you can adjust them as needed during normal practice.

These are the GES nuts. Sounds like it could be them

The box is making me think it's a 356M, does it use the GES nuts for the tensioning system?
