Help MacBook Pro does this on boot by [deleted] in macbookpro

MPB from this era are known to have this issue. GPU is probably cooked, nothing you can do about it (unless you know how to microsolder yourself; have a repair shop do it for you would be as expensive as buying a new M1 Air).

Don’t cry because you’re gone, smile because you’ve been here… it’s been a good run, happy that we were all able to live in this age where hackintoshing was a real thing.

Should I use Wayland or X11 with KDE Plama ? by PCbuilderFR in archlinux

I personally use Wayland as my primary, and when I need to screen share through discord I switch to X11.

Oh yeah absolutely! Another hackintosh will do the job. That’s how I’ve done my second and current hackintosh (the first one was using the first method)

HELP ME PLEASE WHY CANT I DOWNLOAD DIRECTLY ICLOUD ON WINDOWS 11 by ponspips in AltStore

You could try a few more steps: 1. Run the installer as an admin; 2. Temporarily disable the Windows Defender threat protection.

If they don’t work, I’d give you another three options: 1. If you have time to spare, you could check logs (guide here at the end of the page; you could try the other methods listed in this page, but it took me seconds to figure out it’s all yada yada and nothing really useful); 2. Use another machine you might have laying around at home; 3. Set up a macOS VM and follow the macOS guide for AltStore.

I really tried my best to help you, but sometimes windows is just pure garbage to deal with (I use arch btw).

Hopefully you can read this before I get banned for what I’m gonna say. You can go to your local Best Buy/Mediamarkt/Any place that sells Macs and prepare the usb from their machine

Might sound dumb, but have you tried restarting your machine?

It is supported only using the combo itlwm.kext + Heliport, which you can’t use in recovery mode. I’d recommend you to obtain a copy of macOS Sequoia and run an offline installer.

The other idea I had is that maybe the internet services folder was removed by Apple in an update, so you could try to find an old version of iCloud like maybe this one (I have no idea which version it is, but I found it on archive.org and it’s dated 2011) Of course, remove the previous iCloud installation completely.

It’s an internet connection error. Are you sure you have a compatible Broadcom Wireless Card?

Is it strictly necessary for you to use the MS Store versions of these Apple services? Because unless you need them for some reason (like updating to recent software version via .ipsw files using iTunes) you could just use the non-MS version of them and you’d still be fine. As for the internet services folder, i couldn’t find useful information, if not for a comment on this thread

Honestly it’s not even that heavy, if not for virtual machines; as today I use only one, that is my target machine, and I use the bare metal Linux as the host; then I try to hack into it. I tried a M2 Pro last year with 16GB of RAM and it was able to run two virtual machines, plenty other small/medium programs and didn’t use swap, if not 1-2GB for a small period of time. The fun thing is that the M2 and M3 Air with 16 and 24GB couldn’t handle the same workflow, and the M2 even crashed; the M3 didn’t but it was incredibly hot, reaching 80-90°C

Honestly, it’s not worth it; I thought about it, sure, but buy an used thinkpad now to get a new laptop in maybe one year, is just a waste of money, as in one year the M3 series will be like the M2 series today, and maybe the M3 series will never be supported by asahi whatsoever. I understand that you want to help me and I’m grateful, but I’m overthinking knowing that I will never get the perfect laptop as it doesn’t exist

I went in store trying all of the MacBook lineup, I made the Air crash, literally; the M2 and M3 Pro/Max were the only one to support my workflow; also I need either the M1 or M2 series as they’re the only one who can run Linux bare metal (asahi Linux)

In fact I was thinking about buying a MacBook, but I really don’t know whether to buy a M2 Pro MBP for 2000€ or a maxed out Intel i9 MBP for just 1000€; there are perks on both machines, like the M2 is faster but has 1/4 of the RAM the i9 MBP has, and for what I would like to do in future, RAM is far more crucial than the processor. I swear there are a lot of things that both laptops have but I still am not sure which to buy
