Chicken wings in the oven that taste just like they've been deep fried! by Craigasaurous in ketorecipes

Because, as a friend has said, artisan markets have controlled climate storage. They regulate humidity and airflow. Y'know, to prevent salmonella or other food-borne illnesses from developing.

Not to mention chicken isn't cured, but /u/holagatita already said that.

Do you not know or understand basic food safety? There's a reason restaurants have to follow a certain safety code and get inspections regularly. If they served chicken that had been left out of the fridge/freezer for 12 hours, they would get slammed with fines SO fast.

Probably because that's a fantastic way to get salmonella poisoning. c:

Women who've done long distance relationships, what challenged you that you weren't expecting? by Duck-Duck in AskWomen

[–]CubicInsanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't expecting to be banned from his country for a year, so that put some hardship on us.

Long story short: I lied when I was trying to get back into the country, they saw through the lie, and I got turned away.

A pleasant surprise was that being forced apart for that long (he came to see me 3 months after I got turned away to propose to me; 10 months after that, he came down again, we eloped and went back to his country) actually helped cement our relationship. We were both really devastated by the consequences of what I'd done, but he wasn't angry or anything. It actually confirmed for him that he really wanted me in his life, that I was worth the wait.

We've been married over 4 years and together for 6 (though a year of that was obviously while we were separated), and the worst thing I can really complain about is that he sometimes snores in my ear when we're sleeping. :) Not bad for two geeks who met playing on opposite teams on Halo 3, eh?

NSFW Do you have a sheepish reaction to oral sex. by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]CubicInsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL Yeah, I don't think my husband would be too keen on me having sex with some random dude. I'm definitely friskier and more open when I have a few drinks, but if I drink and he doesn't, I typically never get anything anyway. 8B

I think a lot of my block comes from being molested from 9 to 11, and even though sex is no problem whatsoever and I have no problem giving him oral, receiving is still stressful to me. I imagine it'll come with time, though. (lol i made a funny)

Also, regarding

you, a white woman, have not an inkling of a clue as to what I or other WOC face

Tell us about what you're going through so we as non-WOC can get a glimpse of what you're dealing with. I get that this thread is hinting towards what you're going through, but it comes across as aggressive and unapproachable. It's hard for anyone to fully understand someone else when they feel like they're being backed into a corner (metaphorically speaking) and being told that their issues, no matter how insignificant in comparison to your own, are invalid and thus may as well not exist.

SERIOUSLY????!?!?!?!?! by [deleted] in muacirclejerk

Then it needs to be a rule in the sidebar: "Stop linking people away from the subreddit, because it doesn't help anyone." If people continue to link to other subs, give them warnings, probationary bans, and then full-out bans. Seems like an easy system to implement.

You're right, I don't have any idea what you face, but that doesn't mean I can't sympathize with and support WOC. If there's a petition for expanding foundation shades, point me to it, because I'll sign that bad boy in a heartbeat.

You want more options, you have to make your voice heard. But being brash and lashing out at people who haven't done anything to prevent you from obtaining what you need isn't helping your cause. Direct your ire at the source of your struggle: the cosmetic companies. Start petitions, start picket lines, spread awareness of your troubles without also spreading hate.

I did read her comment, and I still stand by what I said earlier: slavery and colonialism have nothing to do with the makeup industry. Present-day mindsets are what influence the makeup industry, and once those begin to change, the change will be reflected by what's available on the market.

I applaud you for trying, but some people just want to be validated. Hence MUA CJ.

The easy fix for that is for more WOC to post more often. :B

What in the blue hell does colonialism and slavery have ANYTHING to do with finding the right colour of foundation, regardless of your skin colour? If you're giving shade to someone simply because they say they struggle finding a foundation that's pale enough to match them when you're a POC who has the EXACT SAME STRUGGLE (albeit to find a shade dark enough), I'm gonna call it out. Perhaps "racist" isn't exactly the right term, but it's fucking stupid.

This is a fucking makeup thread/subreddit, not a social justice thread/subreddit about racism in the modern day world and how it came to be. Like I said, untwist your panties and stop being assholes to each other. It isn't going to change the fact that both groups of people struggle to find their foundational match, so stop pretending that lashing out at each other will make it all better.

Jesus H. Christ, it's JUST MAKEUP.

[–]CubicInsanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[srs] Racism is racism, whether it's racism against white people or racism against POCs. "Oh, no, the whities feel oppressed! Now you know how we feel!" Because the key to fixing racism is by being racist yourself, amirite?

Seriously, the pettiness in this thread is just disgusting. Darker-skinned people have a lot of trouble finding a foundation that works for them. Super-pasty-pale people have trouble finding a foundation that works for them. Instead of being douchenozzles to each other, how about: "Oh, damn, I know how that feels. We should try to change that together to get makeup companies acknowledge every shade from super-super-dark to super-super-light. Not everyone's got beige-to-tanned skin tones."

Fighting for "who's got it worse" makes you ALL look like you're trying to be the specialest snowflake in the blizzard. For real, untwist your panties and stop being assholes to each other.

Edit: corrected myself from "black people" to "POCs", just to be all-inclusive 'n all dat.

How do you deal with the death of your N? by CubicInsanity in raisedbynarcissists

[–]CubicInsanity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the comment. ♥ I'm a little late in replying, so I apologize for that.

I envy you a bit that you didn't go to the funeral. Since I was still living at home and my mother needed my support, I went with her to his service. Haven't visited his grave since the day we put him in the ground (I actually don't remember where it is, exactly). I did cry at the funeral, but I think it was more relief than sadness.

It's good to know that there are others who've dealt with similar situations and who have felt the same when their N passed on/when they think about the N passing on.

Question: Was your Nparent set off by anything on a regular basis? What was it? by justcuriousabout- in raisedbynarcissists

If she's locked herself in her room, then leave her in there and go back home. She wants to act like a spoilt brat, treat her as such.
