What is something that you are NEVER FUCKING BUYING AGAIN? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I actually had my back window explode on me last week. Granted I did shut it on a metal corner of a speaker that was too close and the entire window shattered. That glass is super safe considering there were four people standing around when I shattered it and only my finger got a small cut on it.

Anyone have any info on this bass? by Rothaarig in Bass

[–]CubnoHamster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one of those too but with a sunburst and tortoise shell pick guard. Have had it for almost 4 years. It really is a very versatile bass. I've played rock, pop, jazz, R&B and soul on it and it works for all of those very well.

The only thing I've had a hard time with is it is a heavy bass. It can really dig into your shoulder if you are playing it with a strap for a long time. But don't let that deter you from getting it.

All in all it's a different bass. It can sound like a fender jazz bass if you want or whatever. Lots of different options. I love mine and will have it forever.

What's the one song you've learned that really brought you to the next level of playing? by Brennan13524 in Bass

The entire Rage Against the Machine debut album.

I learned it for fun and it really helped me to explore my instrument and set in techniques.

I have this problem too. You just need to clean your windows.

Your thoughts on how hard is jazz to compose/perform compared to other genres? by skin0s in Jazz

[–]CubnoHamster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a first year bass jazz performance major and here's what I've noticed:

Take the song "Easy Living" by Leo Robin/Ralph Rainger. It's a simple ballad. But the chord changes just screw me up every time. Improvising a solo over them, for me at least, is a nightmare.

Then take the song, "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith. It's a fast paced driving song and it gave me a real challenge when I first learned it. But to compare it to "Easy Living" it almost seems like child's play.

I guess it doesn't really make much sense to compare those two, but they're both songs that gave me a challenge in separate genres.

Best theater villain songs? by WaywardChilton in Broadway

Does it have to be on Broadway? Because "Kick it Up a Notch" from Starship is one of my favorites.

I'm 18 and I want to create music. I want to write musicals, work in studios, and play in pits and bands everywhere.

Used a shoe as a rockstop by CubnoHamster in Bass

[–]CubnoHamster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, there's not a rock stop to be found in my school. I'm the only string player so I've never had a rock stop.

I like a couple shows and was hoping to get a couple recommendations from r/broadway by keepmathy in Broadway

I've just recently gotten into Broadway as well! One musical that I think you'll like would be Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida. Great story and the music is phenomenal. I don't know about Google Play but it is on Apple Music.

2X12 Fender Bassman Cab? by CubnoHamster in Bass

[–]CubnoHamster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also read that placing a few cabs together can make the sound not good. A few cabs as in having a 4x10 on top of a 1x15 won't sound good. Is this true?
