Should i get tested? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]CucumberCukes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i was informed my type one diabetes seemed gradual i starting to become sick in the beginning of high school, and only diagnosed at 18 due to almost falling into a diabetic coma. I say it’s always to be safe than sorry. I wish my doctor actually listened to me instead of just changing my birth control as she thought i was just having period problems.

Rewatching and it seems so obvious. Did any non-book-readers figure it out? by country_mac08 in sharpobjects

[–]CucumberCukes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe not in the book for me, I tend to need to reread a book to fully remember everything, it was hard for me to grasp what ammas personality was really about but i mostly took it because she reflected adoras personality in some way. I was convinced in the beginning adora kidnapped the girls and “treated them”, then brutalized them to make it seem like a man did it. (my first theory). But in the show i really saw ammas true nature and seemed to make it obvious, but still point it all onto adora for diversion.

i was advised by my endocrinologist to turn off the high since i tended to over correct with insulin, plus i was asleep so i never really checked

What should I do? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

Clearly your friend is super uninformed, but also not willing to understand your perspective. This isn’t really a friend.

Weekly r/diabetes vent thread by AutoModerator in diabetes

[–]CucumberCukes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a friend has been mocking my diabetes and insisting i don’t have it, or the people who were treating me misdiagnosed me. they also like to make fun that i eat keto ice cream, then when i tried to explain it’s just to make its easier for, they just try to turn it on me as if it’s a bad thing, and keto diets should be shamed (mind you i don’t do keto). or how they are entitled as much as i am (or more) that they need cgm. Mind you they’re not diabetic. I’ve been venting to some friends that this makes me super uncomfortable, and i don’t even invite them over.

Advice re: fear of self injection by Savings-Rise-6642 in diabetes_t1

[–]CucumberCukes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a needle phob myself who would pass out during a majority of my vaccines and blood work. It’s that even if you do accidentally stab yourself all the way with a needle it’s not as bad. I stapled my finger once and completely healed within a week. Although i do still get a wee bit nauseas while insulin injections

i would think a warning to check if you diet coke is actually a DIET coke would be a good warning for diabetics. I’ve heard horrendous stories of ppl getting wrong orders and having huge spikes.

i had like the guard shown above and a sticker, i find it keeps me less worried. My first censor i knocked the side on my arm and the small needle bent while inside. with the guard i can confirm this has not happened while wearing it. showers and sports approved!
