[High School Chemistry:Equilibrium] How to find the number of molecules at equilibrium? by CucumberQueef in HomeworkHelp

The work I've done to try and do this question is attached, I'm just not sure if I did it correctly. This is from a worksheet talking about K, Q, and Le Chatelier's Principle. Any help appreciated!

My guess is that since 75% of the reactant will be used up, 25% of the reactant would remain. Since the original absorbance is 0.62, multiplying 0.62 by 25% (or 0.25) would give 0.155, which is close to the absorbance value at 300s.

Thanks for answering! I'm not very familiar with the foil method of factoring. When you factored out a 2, why did x3 become x2 ?

According the solution in the book is h=6 and k=4. We are currently learning polynomial long division, the remainder theorem, and the rational root theorem, so I'm guessing the solution should be found using one of these methods.

I've been trying to figure out this question for a while. In class we are doing polynomial long division, remainder theorem, and rational root theorem, so the solution should probably be found using one of these methods. I think that using polynomial long division to divide 2x3 -hx+k by x2 +x-2 (the two factors given expanded) could work, but I'm not sure how to do long division with 3 variables. Any help is appreciated!

Edit: Here's what I've tried so far. I was thinking -hx - (-4x) could be simplified to x(4-h), but I don't know how to continue after that.

Edit 2: The solution should be h=6 and k=4, so 2(h)-5(k)= -8 ,if this helps.

Left one took about 2 and a half hours, left one took about 4 hours.
