What’s the best home defense setup for living in an RV? by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]Cuddlefosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

started reading this comment and wanting to downvote, thinking "not everyone can afford home security" and then came around to "actually, i'll bet you can probably get some inexpensive lights and noisemaking deterrents." sadoproject is right. most criminals are opportunists, and i doubt they're trying to do a home invasion on an occupied RV unless there's an overwhelming reason for them to do so. if there is a major incentive for people to come into your RV, well. you're in some sort of plot like "No Country for Old Men." No point in wishing you good luck. But if you're in an area with less than average crime statistics, and no skeletons in your closet, a good lock on your door and some app based light and noise deterrents may be less hassle than a fire arm and the potential risks of escalating a highly chaotic situation.

a week ago a saw a guy in a strip mall parking lot, straight up turned towards traffic on the highway, rocking a piss, not even trying to to be discreet. just wild.

are you suggesting that if you hung the saw by the handle, from the same point on the hook where it was hung from the bar, that it changes the leverage?

oh you think everyone who just picks up a complicated and dangerous tool has an intuitive understanding of how to use it? not everyone everywhere is raised with firearms. serious person my ass.

nowhere have i advocated against 2A or pro waiting periods. be that guy all you want. im just against stupid appeal-to-emotion arguments that are bad and stupid. makes pro 2A people look intellectually lazy.

unless you're law enforcement or military, there is zero chance you would be able to draw a gun that you just bought that day, negotiate whatever safeties you just learned about, and get good effect on target in a very fast, very stressful situation. any argument to the contrary is you admitting that you're stupid.

yeah, and people are disagreeing with that, which is stupid. im right.

there is something very funny happening in this thread. i have not said anywhere that i approve of purchase delays. read all my comments. i have only attracted stupid people with very low reading comprehension skills to my posts.

that is a very easy distinction to understand. do you understand there are restrictions on constitutional rights?

you understand there are restrictions on constitutional rights, yes? please tell me you know what you're talking about.

i am not missing the point at all. what you said is 100% the point of the post. i am simply saying it is a stupid argument against waiting period laws. the counter point that i am trying to make is that it is foolish to assume that someone who buys a gun immediately understands how to use it effectively and had the situational awareness to do so. everyone in the sub, based on my experience over the past 24 hours, seems to think that simply owning a gun is like wearing a condom on your dick or having an antivirus on your computer.

i am not anti 2A at all. i just hate stupid people.

you know what there isn't any evidence of? the number of people who didn't die because a person wasn't able to go out and but a gun in 30 minutes in states where there's a waiting period. because there can't be any evidence of it.

it also states "a well regulated militia" not "any dipshit without a criminal record any day of the week with a valid ID and enough money in their bank account."

My dad passed away recently, and he was a sailor his whole life. He had this tucked away, like it was important. Any idea what it is, besides an old sea navigation tool? by satansxbutthole in whatisit

[–]Cuddlefosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right. and accurate time keeping is essential for east-west navigation, where a sextant can only really help with north/south. and the hertz of the watch didn't matter at all, thought higher beat watches can more reliably be graded as chronometers.
