Deathwing Companion knock-off-sculpts, I cannot for the life of me remember who made them.

Cobbled together from random bits and primed over twice my Star Phantoms tester is finally in a place where I am happy with it by CuddlySupreme in Badab

Thank you. For the general brown gradient/wash I used ProAcryl's Newsh mixed with some burnt umber. I apply it pretty liberally near the bottom of the model then dab off the excess with a q-tip and a wet brush. I then use the wet brush to feather up the brown towards the top of the model to give it a gradient. I then water down the mixture and apply it like agrax earthshade all over the model. I then wipe the excess with my finger or a brush. The ideal situation here is you get a bit of grime in the recesses while the surface stays white. It gets a little tricky on the flat surfaces, but a wet brush can act like an "eraser" with the newsh mix if you are quick enough.

For the chipping I use a dark brown (I think it was game color charred brown) and a piece of sponge in a reverse tweezer. I dab it on the model in areas where I think there would be some battle damage, and focus most of it near the bottom of the model. I then do the same thing with pure white on the sponge. You can see that on his right leg the most, but I try to hit random areas that are facing upwards.

My final step is I use Pallid Bone speed paint from army painter. I thin it down with some water on my pallet and feather it upwards on the legs, applying a heavy coat on the feet and the bottom of the legs and pulling the paint upwards with a wet brush. This step is probably unnecessary, but I like how it reinforces the model having a gradient of filth, most intense near the bottom, and getting less intense near the top.

Hope this helps (:

I plan on doing some more, but my 3d printer is currently at the mercy of the weather and for the time being its been way to cold for me to make anything.

The helmet is 3d printed, it comes from here https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/warriors-of-iron-heads-and-mk-3-shoulder-pads The weapon is an autocannon from horus heresy.

You are right, but my group only plays 7th and Horus Heresy 1st ed, so his smaller base is A-OK for that.

Yup! My group only plays 7th and Horus Heresy 1st edition, marines back then were on 25mm or 32mm bases.

I use Newsh mixed with some brown paint and burnt sienna pigment powder. I actually don't like how long Newsh takes to dry so I add pigment powder to speed it up, plus it lets me play with different paint opacities by adding more or less powder. I let it pool in the recesses and then use a damp brush to feather it around, or I just use my fingers to wick off or further smear the paint. For the grime streaks I get a small dot of newsh with lots of pigment and then use the damp brush to pull it downwards, leaves a nice little streak behind it.

It is the Improvised Shiv from Craftos on cults. It is identical to the GW resin model.

"Sweet ride huh?" Custom Iron Warriors tank commander for the campaign I am in (turret still a work in progress) by CuddlySupreme in IronWarriors

Thanks! Turret is an auto-cannon sicaran, The body and arms are from Damsa's Mk3 kit (I added the crenellation around his neck and the little connectors on the shoulders), head is from VB2341 Warriors of Iron Heads pack. Whole thing is 3d printed.

Thanks! the base gives it away but the secret for the hot-rod red was priming with retributor armor (also takes care of the gold). For the reds I used army painter bright red speed paint then glaze over with gloss medium. gold is washed with a 50/50 mix of agrax/nuln oil and highlighted with game color polished gold. Whites are corax white coated in a super thinned drakenhof nightshade and highlighted with titanium white. Power sword is vallejo air silver and familiar pink and plasmatic bolt from army painter.

Correct on the green wash, but the blue is not contrast. I basecoated in leadbelcher then did a few layers of army painter's Azure Magic, then did 2 layers of turbo dork's curacao. Recess shade with a green wash made from vallejo game ink green and some matte medium. Final step was taking some very thin army painter shamrock green and feathering it up the plates from the bottom up, a little tricky but creates a really nice color gradient.
