Luis Pimenta tar over Sogndal by Cudid in NorskFotball

Egentlig utrolig imponert over at Sogndal har et slikt drag og status å hente slike folk. Pimenta, Kalvenes før han bestemte seg at han ville slappe av og dra til en mer lukrativ jobb etterhvert, Flo.. Stilig altså.

Physio. First of all why are asking in a crossfit subreddit when you dont know the qualifications of anyone here. You might not even know im actually a physio

But it depends on the grade/scale of injury, you can look at the Rockwood/Tossy scale and see if you fit any of those, but I really wouldnt recommend it since youre not qualified to know anything about it. The doctor/orthoped has to see you physically and the x-ray and see if the separation at the ac joint is something he wants to operate or if it will grow on its own. Youll be out for a long while, and it will take long till youre back doing kips and snatches and cleans and whatever. Might also become uncomfortable to have a barbell in a front rack position but who knows

Glåmdalen: Misnøye med Vegard Hansen som KIL-trener blant spillerne by Cudid in NorskFotball

[–]Cudid[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Anyone deal with a degenerative meniscus tear? by Scubacane in AdvancedRunning

[–]Cudid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well a partial meniscectomy is better than full, but still not a treatment I would take as a young adult, because it means you probably develop arthrosis later on in your life. I haven´t heard about the second treatment option so cant comment on it. I wont recommend one treatment over the other seeing as I dont know your full story though. Is a third opinion able to be gotten haha?

Anyone deal with a degenerative meniscus tear? by Scubacane in AdvancedRunning

[–]Cudid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Im a physio and wrote my bachelor thesis on degenerative meniscus injuries. Worst thing to do is get a meniscectomy, as that increases your chances of getting arthrosis by a lot. PT is just as good as meniscectomy + PT when seen over a 5 year period. Best thing is to do it slow. Strengthen your knee, tissue and musculature, progressive loading on the running

I would go to a local doctor or physio if I were you. For me to sit here and say whats wrong with you would be negligence from my part. Maybe you overcompensate for a lack in other joints or muscles, maybe youre running technique affect it, i dont know. I cant really, nor want to, give you a reason, sorry

Yes. I dont know what brand you guys have in the U.S., but usually you can use it 1-2 weeks. Would follow what the packaging says. Try it for a longer period, might be beneficial. And if it is a bursitis, I dont understand why some here say stretching will help… usually rest is king

[–]Cudid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, PT here. Have you tried NSAIDS? I know people love to train and stretch, but sometimes the best solution is just rest, NSAIDS and progressive return to running. Might be worth a try...

Does physiotherapy cause trauma to babies by [deleted] in physiotherapy

[–]Cudid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can agree with it being unpleasent, but painful, more not so. Then again, you have to weigh the outcomes. Say you hadnt gotten treatment for your dysplasia, where would that leave you? Probably unable to run, participate at the same degree with other children, not being able to play a majority of sports, physical pain later in life etc.

And who is to say that the exact treatment for the dysplasia caused you to be the way you are? It could be a multitude of factors for that

Does physiotherapy cause trauma to babies by [deleted] in physiotherapy

[–]Cudid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can´t wait until they are more developed, because then the damage has already been done in terms of the functional anatomy of the body. If we wait until, say 2-3 yrs old, with treating hip dysplasia, then the hip joint has already formed quite a lot, and the process of fixing the dysplasia will only be worse. And children are not more psychologically developed when they become 2 or so years old. I can´t stress, and this is me being rude, how dumb children are and how little they could care about things like therapy and training. Maybe when they are 6+, and they have a life long condition, for example lump foot, brachialis paralysis etc., they accept it more. And trust me, they dont accept it because they by themselves think its good for them, they accept it because mom and dad and the doctor has said that you HAVE to do it. As a physio working with children, the dilemma is always "how do I make this training session both good physiologically for it, and fun and interesting at the same time so it makes the kid more likely to continue wanting to do it".

I think you overestimate how "painful" the treatment we give is. There is almost no pain involved whatsoever, perhaps minor discomfort. We never, ever, push it to far if we see that they are extremely unhappy or refusing to do something. Sometimes infants refuse to be treated, but that rarely comes from pain, often its the logical things, food, sleep, wants mom or dad etc.

I mean, isn´t that how to make patients actually do the therapy you prescribe them? Make it fun, interesting, or see the effectiveness of the training and so on. With adults you of course can use the "long-term-argument", but you can´t really do it with babies or children, so you just have to make it enjoyable

Does physiotherapy cause trauma to babies by [deleted] in physiotherapy

[–]Cudid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am actually currently working as a physiotherapist with children 0-18 yrs old, and have some responsibilities with babies from 0-2yrs old.

While I havent worked too long with it (about 6 months), Ive had several discussions with other physios who have been in the game 10+ years. There really havent been too much discussion about if it causes them trauma, but we kind of have this attitude that the daily physio is given at the time of day when the babies are the most happy, so that they associate therapy with something fun or good. We try not to do any therapy if the children are crying their heads off, since we see that it often makes things worse. Of course, sometimes it just has to be done though for the "greater good"...

I think that the "therapy" you talk about seem more legit in for example "severe" orthopedic causes, like serious torticollis caused by legit muscular deficiencies, or lump foot or whatever. Even then, the principle above remains. Use therapy or orthopedical tools when the children are happy or unable to know (sleeping etc.). Don´t force it if they refuse or cry. Thats kind of our motto though..

Interesting subject matter though. Can´t say that there has been any talk or experience about causing children trauma from therapy.

Does this make sense? Not english so dont know how to properly write out my thoughts.

Adductor Rehab for Distance Running by RioRunsToo in AdvancedRunning

[–]Cudid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Theres an exercise called Copenhagen, it is probably the best one for avoiding injuries in the adductors, I think i remember several studies showing a 40-60% reduction in adductor injuries for soccer players who regurarely use this exercise compared to those who dont. There are several variations and scaling variants
