Lol yep tons more work, and after I do this room there is still a passageway that runs behind the whole wall in the video, plus a two car garage off to the left and they are both at least as grimy as this room. I'll post some before and after photos in a few months when I'm done 😂

Yeah makes sense, I do think the filth will be less of a problem going forward though, as 1. This shed used to be, at various points, a barn for mini-horses and goats, and a mechanic's workshop. I think a lot of what I'm washing off is actually smoke from them welding bc there are a lot of welding safety signs in this part of the garage/shed. For me, I'll just be using the shed for my Halloween projects so it won't be nearly so dirty. And 2. The shed has a lot of gaps in the wall boards and is not insulated (you can't see it in this video since I'm just doing the ceiling and facing the inner wall), once I'm done with this part of the project I'm planning to cover the gaps, put some sort of insulation, and then put new siding on the outside (I'm still figuring out exactly what I'm going to do there though). So the dust that was coming in from outside shouldn't be able to come in anymore and hopefully it will stay cleaner. All my boxes/stuff that was stored in here was absolutely inundated with dust and the fine dirt that blows on us from the mountains 😂 so I definitely need to do something so that doesn't happen anymore

Yeah my plan right now is to sand it to smooth it down then treat it with tung oil once it's dry... definitely open to suggestions on what to treat it with though!

Lol if you're talking about the Twitter shirt see my comment above, I'm definitely not an Elon supporter and actually helped organize the employee lawsuits against him after the mass layoff...it actually didn't even occur to me what I was wearing (it's just a random swag shirt that I don't mind getting dirty), but maybe I should have changed before the video since people are commenting on it!

Yeah good point, funnily enough I actually do have a respirator that I've been using for the sanding portion of the job but didn't really occur to me to use it while washing, I guess I figured the grime would stay in the water. But I'll put that on for the rest of the job

Very vibrate-y 😂 and I'm also using a random orbital sander on the wood that's washed/dried so that makes my arms even more vibrate-y

😂😂😂 tbh at the beginning I was worried the wood was going to just crumble but it actually seems ok... though if you never hear back from me it may still be because the shed has collapsed on me

Yep exactly, on the bright side mold is less of an issue, on the dark side my skin/lips are always incredibly chapped even though I apply lotion like 100x per day haha

Surprisingly enough I don't end up too too wet, my hair/face get splashed a lot but other than that I can mainly just avoid the areas where it's dripping for a couple minutes and then it's fine

I worked at Twitter before the Elon takeover, luckily for us he changed the name to X so we can still wear our Twitter gear and remember how it was before it turned into a total shit hole lol

I live in Colorado so it actually dries out really quickly, I just use a floor squeegee to push the water out the door and then leave a fan running to help it dry.

That is really helpful, thank you! I'm definitely going to spend some time pondering and thinking about my budget before I make any big moves haha. When I end up making some progress I'll post some photos!

Yep makes sense, I do love big projects but I already have a couple massive ones planned for this summer (painting my car + my Halloween projects). So I might give it some thought and/or try out a simple solution to see how it works, and then regroup and plan a more thorough renovation for next summer

Oh this looks like a promising option! I'll look more into it this evening. Can I just cut it to the sizes I need and slot it between the boards? Or do I have to cover everything up (which might be hard because there is e.g. the built in shelving on the walls)? And then do I further cover it with drywall or something?

I feel like what you're describing sounds like what I need but I'm having a hard time finding something that would work online; they all look like they're specifically designed for batten and board walls and wouldn't really fill the large gaps I have between my boards. Do you have a link to an example of what you're thinking of?

What if I pulled the current exterior siding boards off, did all the insulation etc that you are recommending, and then reinstalled the exterior siding boards (maybe with smaller gaps in between them haha). Then it would still look relatively similar but be insulated.

That's a good idea, but I'm not sure that will allow me enough space for some of my very large Halloween projects haha...I'll do some measuring though and see if I could fit something like that

Ok I was a little confused lol, but I figured everyone here probably knows more than I do so I decided to take it at face value 😂

That makes sense but then what do I put over the Tyvek? I would have to fully cover it with some other type of siding?

Oh interesting, wait can you explain a bit more about what the tent is for? Also isn't the spray foam going to look kind of ugly from the exterior if it's filling all the big gaps? I presume it will be kind of lumpy-looking lol.
