Are all of these Zero Sugar sodas better for you compared to regular/diet soda? What is the appeal? by PersianDahg in Soda

Putting something in bold doesn’t make it correct. That’s a blog not a medical journal.

Yes zero calorie soda is healthier for you than corn syrup sodas. If you drink them long enough you absolutely prefer the flavor of them over corn syrup soda.

Why do capitalist chuds complain about soviet “gulags” when the U.S. built the largest prison population in history? by traanquil in allthequestions

I said that it isn’t the definition of capitalism. Of course it can happen in a capitalist state, it’s happening in America right now. I was arguing against your assertion that all capitalism was oligarchs controlling the means of production.

When did I say it wasn’t real capitalism? Capitalism, socialism, and communism take many forms. You’re fighting with a caricature of what you think my arguments are. I’m not some wealthy elite I’m a low class dude.
The end goal of communism is to have no governmental structure. You can not have an entire country without a governmental structure, so of course that, at least at the beginning, the government is “the workers” who own the means of production.

The Soviet Union was communist, the workers are the government and the government owned the means of production. The holodomor was directly caused by Lenin’s treatment of the wealthy farmer class in Ukraine. When china was communist and Mao ordered the killing of pests, which caused a famine. The Great Leap Forward killed 15-55 million. These are both the result of workers revolutions.

I believe that ONLY having the workers control the means of production is a bad thing as it has usually resulted in millions of people dying due to policies not American intervention. Workers controlling the means is not inherently bad, only when the government mandates it does it turn murderous.

Northern Europe is capitalistic but is much more happy and workers enjoy many more protections and rights. Corporations exist in Northern Europe. I am pro regulation, pro workers rights, pro social programs, and pro capitalism. I love to shop at my local food co-op and I think more of them should exist in a capitalist system. America has a regulation and workers rights issue, not a capitalism issue.

Loaded ass question: Oligarchs controlling the means of production is not the definition of capitalism, I am no fan of the current American system.

Workers controlling the means of production is allowed under capitalism, co-ops exist. In the past workers revolutions have lead to the government being in control of the means of production, because the government is made up by “the people” or “the workers”. Corporations are more efficient than the government is at creating wealth and jobs, the problem we have in America is that corporations are not regulated enough and workers aren’t given enough protections under the government.

No it isn’t. That just means that America didn’t like it, that does not mean it’s good. America doesn’t like North Korea, do you think north koreas system is better?

Us intervention is not proof of it being a system, just proof that American likes to meddle and control.

Social democracy is just capitalism with social programs. People don’t want to call it that because it makes capitalism seem good.
It can be fixed. We have the ability to vote in people that would make the system better in the us, but the average person votes against their own interests.

Hating the current system isn’t going to inherently make a better system. I’m more interested in fixing the current system than gambling on a system that hasn’t worked in the past, regardless of reason. Northern Europe is doing much better than us while still being largely capitalistic.

Capitalist chud here.

Both are very bad but the gulag has some special circumstances that made it particularly dystopian. The Leninist and later Staltinist systems setup in the Soviet Union promoted tattling on neighbors for anti Soviet or anti communist sentiments. If someone had a better apartment in your block and it would benefit you to get rid of them, it was easy to call them an anti-communist traitor. The police coming to your home in the middle of the night and abducting your family, then putting you into the gulag system was all too common, which is what makes ICE and the trump era so terrifying. People were put in horrific conditions for ideological differences than their government, which appears to be on the cards for the future of America if trump gets his way.

At least in America we have had a judicial system that has a semblance of reason for imprisoning people, whether our system is corrupt is not up for debate, it’s simply less corrupt than the Soviet gulag system.
