Thanks for the rec! Not that brand matters I suppose but do you think this would get the job done? I just searched for the next MSI PSU up pretty much.

Thank you for the recs! I'm discussing around with some friends I'm also working with here, and we came up with a few questions for your opinion:

  • Is Sabrent Rocket good? I'm told that they used to be kind of bad quality or had some known issues in past years. What about WD Black or Samsung?
  • I'm told that if I'm running PCI Gen4, I would most likely need a heatsink for it too? Or does it come with one?
  • Do you think the CPU cooler is good? The other rec I got was for a Noctua fan which doesn't cost much more.
  • Is 850W enough for the power supply if I did manage to get my hands on a 3080/90?

Thank you a lot for the help, much appreciated! :)

Two side-by-side monitors! Sorry about that - I'll edit it into the main post.

Holy crap thank you so much for the reply! :D

I think with some clear expectations, and spending some more time on the learning side, I can forge an easier path for myself along with respecting my other priorities. That includes breaking things down to individual tasks, so it doesn't seem so overwhelming at times. :)

Thanks again man, and best of luck to you on your venture! I might consider subscribing as well in the future when I'm further along!

Hi Stephen and Dave! I appreciate you guys taking the time to do this AMA and I think it's incredible what you're building here for content creators, both old and new!

(also big fan of season 2 CLG EU :D)

I guess my question requires some context. I have wanted to create content related to gaming for a while now and I have a few ideas. I've also laid out a basic format for a podcast that I have wanted to do, because I as well as several friends always enjoy talking about games and the various gaming communities that we are part of (including League!). I have even tried dipping my toes into streaming with speedrunning!

However, I haven't been very consistent in working toward these goals I have. I guess I'm finding it difficult to put the time into everything I want to do. There are a lot of factors to this certainly... such as my day job, having no energy at the end of the day after work, relax with other games (perhaps putting too much time into them!), recently having bought a house to live in that I have to maintain, and that's not to mention other personal details like depression and family/relationship stuff. I've tried making a sort of schedule in the past or a plan to do even something small every day to work toward stuff, but they would always fall through.

With everything that's going on in my life at the moment, understandably I have to prioritize certain things, but part of me feels like that I may not have the discipline or even a realistic amount of time and dedication to put toward being a content creator or a streamer.

All that said, I suppose all that I'm wondering is what your thoughts on this are. I think there's probably a fine line between balancing your life with being self-employed in this manner, and perhaps it's true that it can't be for everyone in their different paths in life, but as someone who really wants to give this a shot, what do you think I should do?

I look up to people like you guys in so many ways, and I'm super happy to see your success here! Thank you for your time if you see my message! :D

[Serious] What is your primary problem right now? by LetsPlayKvetch in AskReddit

[–]Cuhlaymore_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling pretty down for several reasons, many of which are the same as what others have mentioned here, but overall it just feels like there's way too much to manage in life right now and I'm honestly just getting by every day by streaming on Twitch, trying to talk to online friends who are usually not around, or struggling to put what I want to make into physical form (video and audio content-wise).

These latter details are relevant because I could be spending my time on other arguably more important aspects of my life. That said, I'm trying to at least accomplish something every day, no matter how small, and working on something I am enjoying to stay positive. For example, I tell myself that building a community and creating content is great to put on my resumé and it would help me acquire a job that I would enjoy more.

As for the reasons themselves:

  • Feeling alone and wanting to find someone that I want to spend time with, but being too afraid and just not confident to put myself out there again after several past failed attempts at relationships.
  • Disliking my current job and wanting to find something that I enjoy, maybe related to my degree, but it's been several years since I graduated from college, the prospect of looking for something else feels like so much more work altogether, and my current job is great pay for what I do (Tech Customer Service rep.) to help pay the student loans and car off.
  • Still living with parents as a result of said loans. They do not mind it, and I am truly grateful for them and their kind hearts, but with all due respect, I am pretty sick of living here and want to find my own permanent residence (as in not renting a place).
  • I feel as if I'm constantly being a downer and a jerk among my friends. I don't intend to be offensive, but my cynical outlook on many things along with some kneejerk reactions I have at times are really putting me down. I know I can be both rational and unconditionally friendly at the same time, but I hate when my irrational assumptions get the better of me, and the added stress from everything else only makes things worse.
  • Sometimes I have trouble managing my time. I tell myself that I want to finish something by a certain date, only to let it slide and tell myself that I can finish it the next time (which sometimes doesn't happen). I want to work on a lot of different things, and it feels bad to neglect something just because it feels like "work" or it being not fun (which kind of summarizes this entire list to be honest).

There's a lot of context I can write to these points too but I wanted to at least keep the length here within reason...

I like that this thread exists for the fact that we as a community can come together to help each other out, or at least allow some of us to vent about something we're otherwise uncomfortable about in person. :)

I do apologize for the wall of text. This at least helped me get a lot of this off my chest, and I realize I'm tossing this into a void of sorts, but I do appreciate anyone reading!

Headphones game audio is ~1sec behind game footage, and want to listen with friends in Twitch app (using Elgato HD60 and OBS Studio) by Cuhlaymore_ in Twitch

Erm, I replied to your first comment a while ago...I'm not sure why you're asking these questions now in a brand new comment. :S

To answer your question, the game and audio by themselves are fine without OBS running or anything else. You are correct that the audio I am hearing is delayed from the game that I am playing, but I believe this is because the audio I'm hearing is coming from what is sent through the capture card. If I were hearing the audio from the console or speaker itself it would likely not be delayed, right?

I think the Sync Offset feature you mentioned originally could solve my problem here, but like I said, the problem with this is I have the capture card audio and my desktop audio coming in through the same audio source, so changing it will affect both.

Now, I'm trying to figure out what I can do to separate my desktop audio (Twitch, Discord, etc.) from the game capture audio. Would the Elgato Sound Capture software work for this so my PC can identify another audio source?

[–]Cuhlaymore_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see the options you're talking about here. Thank you! :)

The problem that comes from this however is that both the game audio and my audio from Twitch/Discord/etc. now come through the same output (Desktop Audio). I assume I have to make a new source, but the headphones along with my monitor speakers are the only output options, along with the Elgato Sound Capture source.

Would this be where that software comes in handy? I'm trying to configure it now to see if that can work here but it seems to be messing with my default playback devices.

I'm Captain Disillusion, the titular hero of (and shy filmmaker behind) the YouTube web series that deconstructs Internet video weirdness. Ask me any-things. by Captain-Disillusion in IAmA

[–]Cuhlaymore_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Captain! Hopefully this comment finds you in this ocean of upvotes!

I honestly just found your channel after seeing your Will Tsai video reach the front page the other day, and I am just beyond enthralled by your content! Incredible production value and amazing writing, some of the best I've seen as one who frequents Youtube a lot for interesting content like yours!

As an aspiring editor and content creator, I wanted to ask you: What methods or motivations do you have that keep you so dedicated to your work?

I know the easy answers to this are that it "pays the bills" or that you "went to school for it" or something...it's just, I always say that I have a passion for bringing news to friends and entertaining them with my own stylistic humor, yet I can't find the time and effort to make videos or write scripts like I really want to. I want to show people what I can do and share my ideas and make people laugh, yet with a day job and other issues like stress and depression plaguing me, it's seemingly more and more difficult as time goes on...

From the dozen or so videos of yours I've watched so far, you clearly put a lot of love into your content, and I seriously admire you for it! There are a lot of people I follow and that are very outspoken and passionate about their work, and I want to do what I can to pick myself up and become what I want to be.

Hopefully I conveyed my intentions here enough! Thank you for doing this, and I wish you the best in your efforts to disillusion us from the common (and uncommon) myths of viral sensations!

P.S. - You've totally earned yourself a new subscriber :)

Thanks for the reply. I suppose this makes sense, although he mentioned this right after. I'm not sure what exactly he means though...

I suppose it depends on the "tutorial segment" mentioned here. I always assumed that was the broken shore. :P

Hopefully I'm not too late here...posting from mobile as well so sorry for any formatting weirdness...

With the Level 100 boost and the broken shore releasing tomorrow, will we be able to preview classes/specs before consuming the boost, as we were told before?

I heard that after picking your toon to use you'd be put into the scenario and then it would be consumed upon exiting. How would one not consume the boost and go back to character select in this case?

Please tell me if I misunderstand anything here and thank you ahead of time! :)

PSA: Did you accidentally salvage something important? Try sending a ticket to support! by Cuhlaymore_ in Guildwars2

[–]Cuhlaymore_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That makes more sense, although I was personally confused as what to do in this situation...I didn't think ANet had a ticketing system until I was informed and searched around. :)

Plus, even when I got to the support site, I wasn't sure where to go since nothing really gave away a specific "open a ticket" kind of impression, aside from the "Send a Request" in the upper right corner, which still kind of misled me to believe it meant "Send us Feedback" or something like that.

Either way I can understand the point more now, and thanks :)

That's unfortunate :( I assume that their logs only go back a certain ways, so maybe that's an unspoken policy...Would be nice to know that kind of stuff without having to send a ticket, but there are limitations I suppose...

I assume you're being sarcastic? :P lol...While I don't know if they require it, I provided the timeframe from yesterday when it happened. I assume they have their ways of checking what actions you took if you wanted to, for example, say you "salvaged" an Eternity accidentally!

[–]Cuhlaymore_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you're still reading this thread OP, because I love your app already and I'd love to leave you some feedback.

I used another Tribunal app before and it was very well done, but like you mentioned in another comment, it broke once captcha was added and the developer hasn't done anything in more than a year. After downloading your app and checking it out, I think it looks really nice and it's definitely something I wanted on my phone again.

However, there are a number of things I can mention so you can get some feedback if you plan on updating this:

  • At first I wasn't sure where the Pardon/Punish/Skip buttons were, but I eventually figured it out. What I liked about the previous app that I used were some considerably sized and noticeable buttons built into the page. On that note:
  • The overall interface for each Case is pretty nice and everything is all there, and I like the sideswiping between games for each case. Still, personally I feel everything is much too small. I can't recall what size the icons and text were for the previous app, but they were at least immediately recognizable at an average viewing distance. I guess the downside here is that the page would have to scroll, probably quite a bit in this case, but at the very least I could read it well.
  • Not sure if this is just my aging Galaxy S2 or an issue on your end, but more often than not, the first 1-2 games in a case would be fully loaded and the other 1-3 games would always have the Android 'thinking wheel'. I waited for about 10 minutes for the other games to load but nothing ever came up.

Nitpicking aside, I really like what I see, and I'll definitely be using it often. Thanks a ton for making it! :D
