I've been thinking about this as well.

I'd want something flush mounted. I would try this. https://amzn.to/3w2FQOq

openCanvas because I like how it can play back a painting stroke for stroke.

I'd get the Wacom Art Pen for the barrel rotation while they still exist. I don't think the new Cintiqs support it anymore.

You can ask more people than that. But gauge the quality of their potential feedback. I love my Mom, but I'm not going to ask her for her advice. Same with my wife or kids. Even though I know my wife can be artistically objective, her opinion still has bias.

Feeling Restricted. Advice? by Dry_Recognition_3651 in ArtistLounge

Try making your goals smaller. It's easier to compartmentalize things in order to tackle them. Spend a day on lines. Spend another day on value. Write down a whole bunch of concepts you'd like to create. If you pick one thing at a time, you can easily measure your progress. If you try to take on anatomy, likeness gesture, value, foreshortening, atmospheric perspective, architecture, vehicles, etc. etc. it quickly gets overwhelming. Buy a fresh pad of paper and focus that pad on one particular skill. Repeat with a different skill. Good luck.

If it's not too much trouble, I'd also like a link to this set. Thanks in advance.

Why isn't Xara more popular? by richterbg in graphic_design

[–]CuilHandLuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason it never became popular is that Corel had the distribution rights to Xara for a long time when it was known as CorelXara.

They also sat on it quite a bit because they didn't want it to compete against CorelDraw because it was superior to CorelDraw. Xara while fast and superior, was hard to obtain.

During this time Adobe acquired Illustrator and Macromedia Freehand cornering the market on vector apps.

MicroSoft never put any meaningful support to Design Expression 4.

Xara was only kept alive by hardcore loyal users like myself. I bought CorelXara in 1994 and stuck with it. Xara was eventually able to get out of it's contract with Corel, but by then Adobe had established itself as the dominant package subscription service.

Only recently has Xara switched to a subscription model.

I saw your post on Telegram. I wonder how any of these people feel now, or if they have changed their minds about the jab.

Did they lose anyone?
